cymbidia said:The whole "cartoon girl" or "dolly" thing is WAY overdone here at Lit, according one very large slice of the population.
If you're new here and looking to get an av/icon to call your own, try to find one that's original in some way, one that depicts something about who you are and what's important to you as a person. Try to avoid the temptation to grab another tired silly vacuous cartoon dolly, one that looks like every other dolly in the place but with different clothes.
Don't opt to be boring before you even get started, please.
Many of us aren't apt to give you a second glance if you go the "dolly" route from the beginning. It's especially important if you're an author and not here just to giggle on the GB. If you're an author and will want to participate in the other Forums here at Lit (Author's Hangout, Story & Poetry Feedback, Editor's Forum, etc.), then it might be harder to get people to take you seriously with a little baby dolly hanging off your name. (You know the place has stories and other Forums, right? The authors here are the backbone of this place, to be honest, and the reason it exists.)
Just thought this might be of value to the incoming. No flames intended if you're of the species who prefers the cartoon girls and boys.
