I'm sorry. This is sounding like a tension headache...I know you won't like this, but short of massage, the only thing left is ice. It hurts at first, but it really works. Move it around to different spots, (esp. the neck) it makes it a bit more tolerable.
Do very slow breathing too, you have to make yourself relax.

Once they calm down, lay down in a dark room, breathe very slowly and try as hard as you can to picture something pleasant. Don't allow yourself any other thoughts...just picture this pleasant thing only, and concentrate on an even breathing pattern. If it doesn't hurt too much, massage your temples and forehead...it will lessen.
I've been dealing with these for 20 years, I do sympathize.
