I used to have martin houses for them, got tired of cleaning the sparrow nest out every year.

Cool!!

LOL..........being married to a wildlife biologist who did his master's on Merriam's Turkeys I know a bit about birds myself.

I had to laugh when my son took all the turkey parts to show and tell..........legs, wings, tail, beard etc.

I know the feeling. I have two houses a 12 and a 20 compartment, and that's a constant battle.

I had an 8 and a 12, and that was enough for me.

Do you have the kind that raises and lowers with a lanyard? Built of aluminum?

Was it at least Thanksgiving???

Nope........turkey hunting season. That in itself is a great story, sometime when you got a few hours we'll swap stories.

I just had to wonder what the other little preschoolers were telling their folks?? Mom ----- brought real turkey legs to school and he cut them off the turkey and everything :)

If I had more room in my house I would have more of them, they are cool little birds.

she had a cage especially made outside the size of a small room.

I had a budgie once. Ehh.

But I know this guy who paints birds, wildlife scenes, à la Audubon. He's always got a few dead birds in the freezer at home that he's "working on." He goes downtown to one of the big glass office towers early in the morning and collects "specimens" that have flown into the side of the building.

Bird people.

No. They're not here yet. I've been looking every day this week. Maybe tomorrow.....

And BK, mine is a double-decker condo (12 units) on a pole with a rope like a flagpole to lower & raise them.

MP....that is one of the most fucking hot incredible male av's I've ever seen.

Oh...yea..we have birds in Ohio.:D

If one of those birds shits on my car.... pellet gun time.

My 4yo and I had a fascinating discussion on the bird poop on my window. He was absolutely mystified on how they could be flying AND pooping at the same time. Apparently one HAS TO BE squatting to poop. Even birds. :)

Back to topic.

I know very few of the birds that visit my birdfeeders. I know the robins and bluejays. My dad thinks I have a woodpecker but I'm not too certain on that. I never see it pecking wood. But he's my dad so I go with it. :) I do love to watch all the birds tho. I sit right here at this computer and to my left is a large bay window. Out that window is a great big huge hickory nut tree. Birds love my tree. I watch them constantly.

Yes, birds are pretty and all that, but the Purple Martins ROCK! They have a PURPOSE!

As someone who is allergic to mosquito bites and who lives on the edge of a forest near a "creek" in a sub-tropical climate, the Purple Martins are sooooooooooooooooo important! They live on mosquitos and (similar to bats) eat their weight in them or something like that... They're VERY good to have around and extremely desirable.

Sounds like mine. Clean those pesky sparrows out, or have Bluesy do it.
