Where is the good stuff? Maybe I should look into vintage?

I'm kind of picky. I want attractive people, but natural too. Not too much work. I also like a bit of production value. I would love some s&m stuff that is seriously scary but then is hot. Like dramatic stuff.

I wouldn't mind some girl on girl porn, but it seems to be for men. It's not hot. Is there anything F/f D/s?

Maybe gay porn would be best for me. Like Brokeback mountain but with more detail.

Eh, it all feels like way too much work.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Have you seen the control thread? Is there anything in there you like?

Maybe try reading. That way, you control what the people look like not some dude's camera.

And women artists create hella pron, with our own sensibilities in mind. The dudes tend to have the money for cameras lights and distribution-- women make for each other in communities like livejournal and tumblr. We have an unbounded imagination, probably because of the social strictures most of us live under, with regard to sexual expression.

A nice place for images is http://sexisnottheenemy.tumblr.com/archive
I keep a tumblr to repost the images that appeal to me, mostly xeno porn http://stellaomega.tumblr.com/archive
For fabulous reading, try http://archiveofourown.org
For mostly M/M art, you might like http://ponderosa121.com/

Have you tried Downton Abbey? We are really close here.

Is it wrong that I don't find the kink.com stuff terrible?

They do my favorite neglected genre at times, TS on bioF porn!

Darkplay.net is great F/f that gets pretty intense, also, though the older stuff's better.

Sometimes crashpadseries gets a little kinky but definitely not scary, and they're cute hipster bay area pangendery real.

What I find is that you never get it ALL in one spot, you have to kind of focus on one ingredient.

I would make more material for women if I could rely on women buying my material. This is the catch 22 we live with.

Maybe I will make this a new years resolution or art project or something. In my copious spare time as they say.

Where is the good stuff?

I have found Tumblr a helpful place to focus my porn surfing interests. There are many people with very specialized interests that post only stuff they like that they have found while surfing.

It takes a while to sort out who has stuff one likes and who to "follow". My porn interests are all over the place dependent on my mood du jour, as anyone can tell who follows my postings.

There is a lot of commercial "plastic people" porn, but that can be easy to work away from.

There is some very good D/s stuff both from a Male Top and/or Female Top POV.

There is gross stuff to artsy stuff, "wet" stuff to "not a drop is shown" stuff, "real people" stuff to "40% plastic people stuff, if just takes time to sort it out.

Finding just the right porn that makes you wet/drippy can be challenging - or fun, depending...

More comments if requested.

I always say I'm going to do that, too, but I never do. I would buy the shit out of it if you did, though!

Also, no, you're not terrible for thinking kink.com is ok.

Me, personally, on the rare occasion that I watch porn, it's nearly always gay boy porn.

Not wrong. I quite like some of that stuff too.

And this is why I can spend hours watching porn. I suppose I really should start building an archive of saved images/videos to save myself time...

I have an archive, a huge archive, but seldom return to it. The hunt for new/more is becoming such a buzz that I seldom return to held material for pleasure.

Caution must be observed in the future to avoid compulsion ;)

I got off like a getting-off-machine to Device Bondage for a long time. And then-- suddenly-- not so much. NOt that it got bad or anything, just stopped working for me... Other things do.

We could trade!

Who am I kidding. I have no time for porn! I need to save this thread for like three months from now. I suck.

What control thread?

I did use to like stories quite a bit. I'll check those out, thank you!

 You goof.

I should go back to kink dot com. I'm really not *that* hard to please, I don't think. I feel like I'm not very specific. The main thing is I don't like porn star looking people and I don't like to see bodily fluids. I know, I'm a weird sex negative prude!

I will check out crashpad and darkplay -- thank you!

I never got that into tumblr -- I mean, the blogs on there -- but what the hell. I do like pretty images so it might be a good place to start.

Really I should just get some clips from Brokeback Mountain and call it a day!

Try some European porn. For the most part, there's relatively little dialog that can't be sussed out from context anyway. Over there, they have very little use for pneumatic tits and six-pack abs.

I haven't seen a porno that I really liked in a long, long time. And that's probably because I was always into "transgressive", and when I was younger "transgressive" meant tame and easily accessible stuff on that long and winding road toward M/s, near-death stuff, and you-lot-know what else. (I count myself pretty lucky in that I can get off on stuff that has zero sex.)

But yeah, written erotica is gonna be where it's at if you want it all in one tidy package.

That's right. And in this day and age, no one remembers how to open up a market.

Please, make material for women. Give some of it away-- while you are discovering what works for the women you are aiming at, it's about the only way to purvey your goods. Women don't spend money on what they don't know is worth it. We have to see some proof. Guys can rely on umpty years of product dev, they can be reasonably sure that what they buy will be to their specs- and Dudes know how to spend selfishly. Women tend to invest their 'me' money in attractivity products, not pleasure products.

And besides-- women are worth subsidising just a little bit. Set a ladyporn surcharge on your male sales.

I prefer reading to watching porn... I can't watch porn without feeling like some kind of disgusting pervert. I'm a bit of an exhibitionist in real life, but can't deal with watching others do sexual things, whether it's in person or on film.

(I was raised by parents whose views on sex were really fucked up, and they were kind enough to pass those beliefs on to me... Even though I know they were WRONG, it's still been difficult to overcome what I was taught for so many years, specially since it was reinforced by my first husband, who told me in so many words that if I enjoyed sex, it meant I was a cheating slut who was probably out screwing other men, but if I didn't *pretend* to enjoy it, I was failing him as a wife. That's actually why I started writing erotica and erotic romance in the first place, to try to counter some of the bullcrap in my head...)

I hear this sort of thing a lot-- from women especially. We write as a way to figure shit out.

From pain, art is born. :rose:

Right now, I'm actually able to get into my art studio for the first time in 5 years because I'm doing well with the guys and have figured out a niche that's truly working. Subsidizing women's satisfaction is worth it, but will have to be backburnered here. Surcharges are out of the question when I have FINALLY found right pricing, and it's a crowd pleasing rate.

My content is audio, which is an option that isn't often considered. I always do sample stuff, I would be lost without the good teaser or the periodic free session. (MC and Hypno genre)

I don't have time for my own orgasms lately or a lot of experimentation with things that are interesting but not my main interest. I have no doubt that what you're proposing is a way, and the right one, but a lot of the indies like me are in situations where they have a beg-a-thon every time a cat injures a leg - R+D is a luxury a lot of people will never know.

I'll be able to play with it if things stay like this, I'm sure, I guess right now I want to deal with smut as much as I have to and no more!

Oh trust me, I know. I'm trying to figure out the costs of that kind of attack right now, include it in my biz plan

It's that same old spiral. Not enough sales = not enough reason to develop the market=even less sales=a lost demographic having =beg-a-thons for the necessities=not enough sales

The good news is that both of you work in markets where people actually want - and know they want - what you have to sell. True, you're not the only pony in the circus, but you have personality to help you differentiate yourselves.

Exactly. Thank you. In my case, a friend dared me to challenge my beliefs by writing something that showed "sex in a positive light", and that's where it all started.

Well, no, they don't know that they want what we have to sell. That's what we've been discussing. There are very few ponies in the circus because no one wants (can afford to) to put in the time and effort required to build that circus, not when the Big Tent is already full of clients.

I'll have it easier marketing directly to women, women know about sex toys-- but my big sales will come from men. They always have. When I bring my wooden dildos to shows, men buy them for their lady friends. Or maybe she goes and gets the cash from her husband.

Women WANT them-- but can't so often bring themselves to spend actual cash. I've done a lot of bartering, just to get them into the hands they should be in.

In Netz's case? I've never even thought of listening to audio sex service. it's an utterly unfamiliar product. She's going to have to educate her market.

Again women-- in my community at least-- do listen-- to home-made fiction, read aloud. They are the consumers of audio porn as I know of it, and maybe there's a hook there. If Netz wanted to listen, see what kinds of recordings women make to get themselves off, I would love to think of ways to translate that into what she does. What might be a sticking point is that 'podfic' is mostly a bit removed from the listener, being a narrated story with characters who are not the listener. Encouraging a woman to come into the story-- that might be difficult at first.
