I Hate Blackmail As A Plot Device

Terry Pratchett has a strong belief that it's the sign of a diseased mind. :D ;)

Looking at your sig I realize you're a devotee of the God Pratchett as well. :D

All of them are. I've read everything he's written. I love satire. I am also a big fan of the late Douglas Adams. :)

Me too. Although all I read was the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.

I'll PM so we can end the threadjack ;) (I changed the quote in my sig for you Rob :) )

Sorry, TGP

I hate it when the euphemism changes with each reference to that body part.
For crying out loud, choose one and stick to it! I don't care if it's 'dick', 'cock' or 'rod' but pick one, not three (please, don't make it 'love meat' or something similar *gag*).
Most people have a personal favourite that they use, don't think I've ever met someone that runs through the whole thesaurus.

I'm trying to in a new story! Well, not the whole thesaurus, just the ones that can be used as names. Snapper Lake, Jimmy Chuff, dick Johnson, things like that - I think it'll slide by a lot of people, but...I'm having fun. I'm with you on some of those names...a one eyed trouser snake should only be in the humor category.

Dick Johnson?? He's a racing car driver in Australia!

"Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss"

Ah yes, the NOAM, or Never Ending Orgasmic Moan; it is one of the top ten errors of novice porn writers. :p Depending on who is compiling the list, it's usually one of the top three.

As to blackmail in porn stories, there is a place for it, because blackmail does work and some people are wiling to submit for fear of things beig revealed that others would shout to the rooftops at the slightest encouragement.

Literotica itself is "blackmail material" for many of the people who visit here -- at least three Literoticans have lost their jobs for posting here; in one case just for visiting here. Given a choice between living out one of the sories here and losing a job, there are a lot of people who would choose the story. Some people here would submit to the blackmail even if they wouldn't lose their job. :D

One of my pet peeves is bad dialogue -- not bad in the sense of "cheesy" or unbelievable, but "bad" in the sense of not knowing what "dialogue" is or how to punctuate it.

Good blackmail is very much like seduction.

The problem with blackmail stories is they don't tease... slow and easy, digging the hole under the blackmailee deeper and deeper, until the blackmailee is actually the one doing the digging.

The best stories use blackmail as a way of giving the 'victim' an out from their inhibitions.

To oftner, it's used as a hammer to resolve the power issue and the 'get her naked' problem.

*sigh*

Anyway... things I would like to see less of in my porn.

The hammer.

I especially hate it in porn stories. It has nearly run me off of several stories never to come back again because it really is an annoying plotline.

What does everyone else want to see less of in the stories they read?

Greetings

theres a story by Marsh Alien called Accidental Gigolo that does a nice job of shifting the blackmail dynamic - try it fun read

That said - I'm not much for rape reluctant stories

My stories can be violent but little of that is sexual

Enjoy the journey

Blackmail has a perfect place in humor. It can create some of the best situations like, blackmailers blackmailing blackmailers and no one knows.

But mostly on Lit it gets used for reluctance/forced stories :(

My first story here was a blackmail one. Since I was a rookie, I made some obvious mistakes and got pounded after I submitted Ch1. I decided that the others would get smoked as well, so did something else while I tried to find ways to make the plot more "believable". When I finally got it where I wanted it, I was shocked that it was very well received (and Ch1 actually came up from the high 3s to the low 4s). The other chapters all made Hot and Ch4 is even on the top list of LW (way down towards the bottom  ). I didn't do it for her to release her inner slut, I tried a completely different tact. Instead of trying to explore her reasons, I tried to explain why someone would take the chance of blackmailing a grown adult (who as TGP pointed out, could go right to the cops). I gave reasons why she might not be believed, ways they avoided incriminating themselves, and a motive that was at least moderately believable.

It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it's a good challenge. If I had to do it over again, I would have waited until I understood writing a little better, but it definitely helped me grow.

Things I want to see less:

45 year old granma's. I'm not saying they can't be, just that 45 isn't granma age.

Old women with better bodies than most 25 year old girls. (especially if they're looking in the mirror and thinking this)

And aereola almost as big as saucers. (Just how tiny are the teacups they use?)

Of course, you can get areolae that are fairly large. I'd say more the size of an espresso cup saucer though, at largest :D

My personal hates are many, but here are a few...
1- people who jump straight into sex using explicit language before any sort of heat has had a chance to build up.

2- people who menion what's going to happen later in the story as a kind of teaser, eg - "little did she know that today would be the day she got jumped in the carpark and was fucked by a big cock in her tight little cunt until she came harder than ever before." If that was in the first paragraph it would also be an example of pet hate no.1

3- the bizarre euphemism thing also. I mean sperm tunnel? Love glove? What?! How is that sexy?

4- Novice mistake of a) describing characters in over-zealous detail all at once and b) using a mirror to do it. Gah.

5- People who rush through and try and give you too much detail all at once, or report dialogue instead of writing it.

6- People writing in the first person who make it unclear what the gender of their character is early on. I find that confusing in straight fiction, in erotica it can become downright weird.

Uh... maybe in the white-land.

Nothing over 32 would surprise me as grandma age.

hey...hey...hey... ironic foreshadowing is a powerful tool... especially in the hand of rank amateurs.

It's courteous to let a reader know they don't want to read the rest of the story.

3- the bizarre euphemism thing also. I mean sperm tunnel? Love glove? What?! How is that sexy?

PURPLE BABYFIST!!!

4- Novice mistake of a) describing characters in over-zealous detail all at once and b) using a mirror to do it. Gah.

I think complaining about the mirror thing is so yesterday... I mean really when do you describe yourself mentally to yourself? Huh? Huh? Huh?

I bet you only do it in front of the mirror... so there!

5- People who rush through and try and give you too much detail all at once, or report dialogue instead of writing it.

Yeah... but if they want to 'report' dialogue... it's probably better that they don't actually try to write it.

Bad dialogue or no dialogue... your choice... but I'm going with no dialogue.

6- People writing in the first person who make it unclear what the gender of their character is early on. I find that confusing in straight fiction, in erotica it can become downright weird.

Maybe... the writer is confused about their own sexuality... ever think about that BUCKO!

*sniff*

It's not nice to make fun of other people's confusion! BIGOT!

Yeah... I'm bored and I have a 5 shot iced latte in the pipe already... so sue me.

I resemble that remark!

My first grandchild was born when I was 44 and both my daughter and I were not particularly precocious. Mind you, 45 is a bit young for a three generation orgy, but it's about average for a first grandchild.

OK OK, there have been 24 year old granmas, I know, I know. But the point I was making is that Grandmotherliness isn't acquired until retirement age. IMHO.
