One of my neighbors, a guy I've talked with quite a bit and have helped out more than once just picked up a bike. A Harley.
Now he's had this bike for about two weeks now but I haven't seen him to say anything to him about it. (It's a nice looking bike but huge.) I've heard it start up in the evenings as he and his wife go for a ride, about five hundred feet down the road to where they can turn around then back to the bar across the street from us. A while later I hear it fire up and come back home. That's all the riding he does.
Yesterday evening I saw him and his wife come strutting out in their new "branded" leathers to climb on their bike and go for a ride. I waved and he shrugged me off while saying something about them Jap Bike riders. I just smiled adn went back to cleaning my bike. (he's been bitten by the Harley Mystique.)
About an hour later I heard him and his wife coming back into the park, there was no mistaking the thunder of his short pipes. I listened as he pulled under the carport and the engine cut off. This was quickly followed by a loud crash and the sound of someone cursing. You know I just had to go out and investigate. (Nosy, that's me.
)
When I got out there I found him standing next to his bike and cussing a blue streak as he looked at his bike laying on it's side. I stood there watching for a bit as he tried standing the bike up more than a few times. Finally I just had to step in.
Stepping out of the shadows I asked him if he was having a roblem which caused another round of cursing. I just grinned and handed his wife my cigar then motioned him out of the way as I stepped up to his bike. His cursing stopped and his jaw just hung open as he watched me stand his bike up, drop the stand he had forgotten to put down and then settle the bike in it's proper attitude. Reaching past him I grabbed my cigar back and then looked over his bike for damage. (Nothing major, just some nicks and dings. All were cosmetic.)
Stepping away and heading for my place I just had to get in a dig. I told him that if he asked nice this Jap Bike Rider could maybe teach him to ride.
I wonder if he's stopped cussing yet?
