i had an idea

woke up with an idea for a story.

It involves a group of people on a cruise ship. The cruise goes smoothly at first . but then it runs into a storm that seems to pop out of nowhere. thing is its no regular storm. it is fierce, and very violent, with green lightning and whipping winds that knock some of those on deck overboard. the rest of the people go to their cabins and wait out the storm.
well the storm passes and when the passengers and crew come out of hiding, they discover they re not where they were

unbeknonst to them in fact they've actually traversed dimensions. they see a island not too far off and so they steer towards that thinking theyv'e simply run off course.
but as they get to the island they encounter strange things and creatures.

I havent fully thought out the denizens of the island. but so far I had an idea for a colossal latex monster with long tendrils that can turn anyone it gets its tendrils into into a permanent latex stature .

I was thinking of having it told through a male main character and maybe havea sister or gf along with. I dunno.

what do you think?

i hope this hasnt been done already. if it has let me know if it seems worht writing. just thought id share my idea..see where it goes.

well, we've been in several hurricane but only on land (Asia, Florida and BVI)...only tropical storms while on a ship.

So, 1st question what size ship?

imagine two couples on a vacation....and things could heat up? after all, you tend to do things on vacation....add a hurricane...thinking you are going to die and add some booze

was thinking a cruise ship ..or barring that someones yacht. was thinking there would be a group of characters in the story.you know to allow for multiple victims or survivors as it were..

You have kind of a weird twist on the tv show Lost happening, which I like! ALong with your monster there could be a group of sex crazed people native to the island that capture people from the ship and have their way. Could be fun.

never seen lost so i dunno what you mean. but do you think the idea is worth writing? yeah i got a few more things to flesh out but the idea itself? is it good?
