Wanna see? If there's any interest, I will show them. If not, I won't. :p

What is the conversion between the Euro and the US Dollar anyway?

If you can put 500 of them in one little piece of paper... they must not be worth much.....:D

According to RTE (Irish National Broadcasting)

"On the currency markets, the euro traded at US$0.90, AUS$1.76, 119.53 yen and 62 pence sterling."

the back

There are a lot of really cool features that you have to feel.
I have a couple of coins, but the light is too bad for me to take a good picture.
I've seen coins from Italy, France, and Netherland today. I was very surprised that they've travelled so far so soon. Pretty cool.

They remind me of of old Chinese postage stamps.

Hey April

Those pics are messed up...

Some play money got in the way of your boobies...

Must be windy there.

:p

cool pics april i might be seeing those soon being that im in the uk :)

are the shops allowed to give the euros from different countries out as change or do they send them back to the banks ?

with scotish notes we keep them and they go back to the banks/scotland ... i think it would be cool for the euro's though if they let all the countries moneys get all mixed up

all mixed up, sexy-girl

same value every where. Only the coins have different backs--the fronts are all the same. The notes have no nationality--they are the same everwhere. Now when are the UK, Denmark and Sweden gonna get with the programme, eh?

scotish pounds are still same value as english pounds ... but shops withold them ... scotish pounds are legal tender in the uk just not allowed to give them out as change

i just wondered if it was the same for euros

i think its good though that they are going to let them get totally mixed up

and im sure uk will get with the "programme" when we see if the euro falls flat on its face ... or not :)

know what you mean

I don't see what can go wrong--I was speaking with people in Ireland today, said there was no trouble whatsoever. And after 9 Feb, there won't be any french francs, marks, lire or whatever left--have to trade them all in by then, or you LOSE! I think it's a mistake not to get in on the ground floor, but it wouldn't be the first time.

In Germany, the deadline to trade in your marks is the end of Feb. Until then, you can use them, but you get euros in change. Which is what I did tonight at McD's. Kinda cool to see my DM10 get plunked into this padlocked container. That's the last time it'll ever be used. *sniffle*

Thumper, all you have to do is ask. :D

Oh shit guys , scabbers and sexy-girl , aren't we British and want to keep our Pound?.........:(

what can go wrong ? ... well how about having the same interest rates for every country in europe ... what happens if one country is in boom and other is bust ?

economically it could still fall on its face theres nearly a worldwide recession at the moment england is avoiding it because of the way we've set our interest rates causing big spending in the shops ... if we were in the euro we'd be in the same reccession as the rest of europe perhaps

i still dont know if its a good idea or not to join ... but sorry sarah i dont care about the pound :)

excuse my ignorance and laziness

...but what is that funky symbol in the top corner of the bill? A symbol from an alternate alphabet somewhere?

Coolness! Thanks for the peek, April & scabbers. How do they compare size-wise to your "old" bills?

Wise words! It's a bit silly if we care about our own currecny so much that we won't give it up....I hate that ridiculous argument of loss of "soveriegnty" (is that how you spell it? Too tired...)

The important word here is parity.....it's easy for the UK to introduce the Euro, since finding a suitable exchange rate is not a problem, but that does not necessarily equate to having the same interest rates or the same government policies being in effect all across Europe. It will be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming months...
