Holy mackerel! I was at my local grocer today and when I was handed my change after paying for my items at the checkout, I later saw that there was a silver Nazi coin!

I can't even begin to imagine how that ended up in the cash register......

It's relatively common to be given foreign money (usually Canadian) by accident, but a Nazi coin is a true oddity.

It's silver, and it has the iconic eagle standing on top of the swasticka.

Nothing special

Every German coin had the eagle on it until the mark was changed to euro.

Was it the grocery clerk that you wanted to hit on once? Maybe she's warming to you.

Sound's to me like someone's coin collection got pilfered. If it's an actual Nazi coin it's worth far more then either it's presumed denomination or its silver value. All in all a win-win for the OP.

Nazi coins aren't worth very much. You can get them all day long for less than 10 bucks.

I should have it appraised by a professional coin collector, it might be worth something.

How much is it worth?

I have some Soviet coins and Spanish coins with Franco on them and some paper Rands from apartheid era South Africa. The Soviet ones might be worth something since it was technically illegal to remove currency from the USSR. Probably not though. I never checked.

There's this amazing thing called the Internet. You can look up all sorts of stuff. There are probably ten million coin collection "sites" (as they're called) where you can probably find the coin's value.

Was it a Jewish Deli?
