It's not totally different. The Southern Cross features prominently in the second and third versions of the confederate flag. Only the first didn't have it and that one didn't last long.Moxon4 said:The Confederate Flag that is seen is actually the Battleflag, the real flag was totally different.
I think it's good to remember history, especially the history of a war that was totally distorted by propagandists afterward (especially since Lincoln jailed anyone who wrote differently) It means different things to different people, and to the uneducated, they think it stands for slavery
Actually it's the cross of St. Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland. I don't believe he stood for any of the things you mentioned.Moxon4 said:It stands for state's rights and the doctrine of interposition, and by voluntary union, not one done by the end of a bayonet

That may be what the flag stood for at the time of the Civil War, but the flag gained popularity as a backlash to the Civil Rights Movement. More Southerners started waving that flag in the 1960s than before. That is why it's associated with racism, bigotry, and segregation.Moxon4 said:It stands for state's rights and the doctrine of interposition, and by voluntary union, not one done by the end of a bayonet

There's your Confederate flag...
