The "there it is" moment to be particularly satisfying when it comes writing. Like a sculptor who begins with a lump of clay or block of marble and for some time it's form is uncertain. But eventually there is a "there it is" moment. My writing feels the same. The first draft is the lump of clay. I write without thought of flow or detail at first, pouring out the plot and characters that start life chaotic and incomplete. Perhaps this is a vain and overly poetic way to look at it, but it's the way I feel. I might never create my David, but Stacy's mom, her I can do. šŸ˜„

I've found that I've written a lot of introductions to stories that never got completed for various reasons. So when I get one 'over the hump' and into the ending, I get a real rush and think "there it is". Often I don't extensively redraft, so that's when it begins to feel like downhill all the way.

It's a great feeling. Very satisfying. I am usually in a good mood all day!

I've been trying to get a story started for a week now. Each day/night I work on it, I get a few pages in, and start over. This last attempt I finally got to six pages, and I am happy with what I have so far. It's funny though. All prior attempts were given titles and file names as I saved them. This time around I let MS Word save it with the first few words to the story. Maybe just "winging it" helped? I don't know, but it is a damn good feeling to get past those few pages and to be happy with what I have now.
