I Feel China Must Be Held Responsible for the Pandemic

China is responsible for the pandemic. Although I don't rule out intentional or accidental release, I think it was probably because they permitted obscenely un safe social practices and traditions which ended up harming every corner of our planet. I know I'm talking out my ass, but this would be a world wide effort. Overwhelming support that would compel China to change its ways. It doesn't have to be punitive, but the world should be assured that China is not an existential threat to the planet. I firmly believe this did not have to happen and China could have prevented it.

You are not alone on that, but half of the country is willing to ignore what China did, because for political expedience, they want all of the blame to be on President Trump. I think right now that if you asked most Democrats, who is our greatest enemy? Trump would win over China, hands down. Vice President Joe Biden feels, and this is by personal (family) experience, that you can work with China, but that you have to oppose and overcome Trump because you cannot work with him.

One thing is for sure, they were not forthcoming at the start of it.

And the World Health Organization backed their play and advanced the claim that is was not transmissible person-to-person. We should withdraw funding from them as a fine for not fulfilling their mandate.

I wonder what trump would have done if it first broke out in the USA.

Well the one thing we do know for certain is that the first documented cases, and eventual outbreak, did happen in China. We also know that the Chinese are rarely completely forthcoming or honest with regards to anything that they perceive could be somehow used against them, most people did not think it was wise to trust early Chinese officials with regards to what was actually happening (trump being one of the few to openly suggest that Xi was handling things well).

If we are to hold them accountable, just exactly how would we do that? What exactly would we charge them with, and with what proof, and just how many nations would be willing to exert pressure on the Chinese? You criticize how their unsafe social practices are putting others at risk, but I doubt that you would want the rest of the global nations to be able to penalize the USA for such recklessness? If we open that can of worms, most likely we would be the country drawing some of the sharpest rebukes from other countries. I am not a fan of the Chinese government at all, and I do not agree with many aspects of how they handled the initial outbreak, but they did take far more serious measures to contain it than we have.

The biggest issue with holding China accountable for anything is the fact that they are an extremely powerful player in the world stage. Trump can huff and puff and call it the China flu all he wants, but yet he’s not willing to do anything substantial about it for a reason. You can bet that he would if he thought he could. In theory he could up the ante on the tarrif war with China, but that hasn’t been working out so well for the administration so far, has it? I think pretty much every other nation is going to be similarly hesitant to push too much on China. Our presidents have been struggling with how to deal with China for a very long time, unfortunately in those decades China’s global power has grown substantially while ours has not.

China is not responsible for the US response. The "fake news" CIA called it out immediately but anti science laughed at them.

Anyone still calling Covid-19 the "Wuhan Flu" at this point is xenophobic trash easily amused by racist jingoisms that you do not need to engage, associate or even be with in your life.
