You got that right!

Cue The Slaughter of the Innocents.

Lots'a scores gonna get settled by nightfall.

What an f'in mess.

Peace (hopefully).

I don't think things will change that much. The Sunni and the Shia will continue killing each other, but the Sunnis' hearts might be in it so much. With Saddam dead, they have less to keep fighting for. If there are any changes, I think they will be positive, for that reason.

And, of course, the Baathists will give up hope of returning Saddam to power, and might even lay down their weapons.

And now the fun really begins. Batten down the hatches folks, one of the loony groups is bound to use this as an excuse.
They need excuses now? Since when was "Uh, we're like invaded, like, by the US of, like, A." not all the excuse they needed?

It may not happen as expected. I say this for no particular reason, just a general one that may have the same root as the old "Buy the rumor, sell the news" stock market maxim.

Besides, they don't really need any particular excuse to slaughter innocents over there, do they?

Of course my rank speculation may be completely wrong, and disproved very quickly . . .

Right. That's why Sunnis and Sadaam revanchists are killing hundreds of Shiites, and Shiites are killing hundreds of Sunni's. Perfectly logical.

Case in point. They are. They didn't need to see Saddam dangle to get around to that.

So I'm wif you on that, I don't think this will change all that much. Maybe for a few days, and regionally, with a Tikrit epicenter. But the support for Saddam among the different factions weren't that wide spread outside of old Baath, from what I've heard.
