Okay let me explain, last Friday I had to deliver two double basses to a backline rental company in the north of my country.
After I did so I went to the town to eat lunch and rest up after the two hour journey. When I made my way to the intersection to get to the freeway there was a Citroen estate in front of me who's driver took his sweet time getting up to speed at the traffic light before his engine stalled with a loud "Poof"
So he started his car up again and the Citroen's pneumatic pushed the back end up and it bounced a couple of times when the driver pushed the accelerator down, I quickly overtook that disaster on wheels and made my way to the roundabout so I could get to the highway.
This is the actual roundabout, I was heading towards the turn off right at the petrol station: the one in the lowest part of the picture, Note that the lanes of this roundabout have Dividers, to keep traffic from getting in each other's lanes, note also that the Grass part of those divider have a low fence made from metal tubing. You can just make it out.
Anyway as I neared the turn off I had to take, that Citroen estate passed me with a speed that was way higher than the 30 limit.
Apparently the driver either underestimated the ability of his car to make a turn at speed or he noticed a little too late that he needed to take that turn off and figured he could still make it, because the guy missed the turn off and slammed his car in the raised divider between the two lanes, bounced up from the pedestrian crossing into the grass lane ramming the fence.
To my amazement, the guy then turned right entered the lane and continued to drive at speed but I also saw debris coming from underneath his car, it's half a mile from that roundabout to traffic lights that lead to the highway and as I neared it I suddenly got that pungent odor of burning plastic and oil in my nose and I saw a big cloud of smoke in front of me.
I saw the Citroen halting for the red light with plumes of black smoke coming from underneath the car, I pulled up along side it checking how badly damaged the car was but I only noticed the driver sitting there with an annoyed look on his face. But he certainly wasn't as annoyed as the people behind him because when the lights went green, his car just wouldn't move at all. The last I saw was the driver getting out and making motions at the people behind him as if to say "Yeah and what do YOU people want eh?"
Some people should NEVER take place behind the steering wheel of a car.
