I agree, there is a need for "ordinary" people to find their way into positions of leadership as opposed to relying on professional politicians to fill these roles.
The problem appears to be that the public seem to be drawn toward anyone who makes the right kind of noises. Impeached president trump used the skills developed over a life time of borderline criminal business activity and "skills" honed through his reality TV experience and brought those to the hustings. Thus, making promises that appealed to the prejudices of what we now call his base, the surprisingly successful use of profanity, blasphemy, sexual harassment and public mocking of his opponents and his tactic of ignoring the constitution whenever it suited, largely through ignorance, has worked. He has become an entertainment phenomena.
All of this would have, and has, meant instant political death to past candidates, Yet somehow he has thrived in it.
Somehow he has turned his mistakes and crimes and general bullshit into "sticking it to the Deep State" and "cleaning out the swamp" when the exact opposite is true, yet people still believe him.
I dont see Joe Biden being able to turn this trend around and despite what maybe honorable intentions he will be overwhelmed by depth of depravity the USA has sunck to.

1 Restore respect for the office of President.

2 Get the Congress working as a legislative body again.

3 Let the legal/justice system get on with its job without constant intervention, commentary and interference from the executive (including himself).

4 Appoint competent cabinet people and let them get on with their jobs.

That will be enough for the next 4 years. Particular agendas, progressive or conservative should all be secondary to the fundamental repair job.
