This morning I was studying at the coffee shop again when I overheard the people at the next table talking about the plane crash in New York. I'd been there since 7, with no internet connection, so I asked what they had heard. One of them responded that she was looking it up on her laptop to get the details. She then reported that her stock trading site had a 20 minute lag time, so we couldn't find out the effect on our stocks for at least another 20 minutes. She seemed quite perturbed.

A plane crashes into a residential neighborhood, almost tow months to the day after a terrorist attack effected the same city, and this woman was concerned about her stock.

i could say that life goes on , but that would be frivolous so close to the event .
some people have no soul or compassion

So that same lady was in the shop again today. At least she didnt need more toilet paper today.

In all seriousness Mishka...you have every right to be angry. They say that the most important distinction between the great Apes(of which we are one) and other animals is the ability to think outside of themselves. Sometimes it seems they may have theorized this wrong.

I feel your frustration...

It's just what I was overwhelmed with on 11 Sept...I was ON my plane headed to DC...we were minutes away from takeoff when the captain told us we had to disembark the plane since all had been grounded...

So I'm sitting, stunned, in my little airport, surrounded by agitated consumers...listening to them bitch into their cell phones about being stuck here, or redirected here, and how they'd BETTER get hotel room and rental cars back to wherever and blah blah blah....

As my thoughts are filled with wonderings of my friends stationed at the Pentagon...are they alive? Are they ok? Are they trapped? "Oh gods I hope Eric is ok cuz Steph's pregnant and 30weeks and she can't have lost her husband then...."

Suddenly I was filled with a rage so hot it was startling. I left the terminal outside right before I lost complete control of myself and started screaming at the selfish bastards to STFU and think of someone BESIDES THEMSELVES AND THEIR PETTY INCONVENIENCES for once! Meditation and mourning in a quiet headspace outside until I was collected enough to go back in and start rescheduling my flight...

Sickening.

I had such a horrible feeling this weekend that something would happen today, it being Veteran's Day and almost two months do the day after the first attack.

When the plane went down this morning, all I could think of were the people on the plane, their families and the people in the neighborhood the plane hit.

I understand your frustraton Mischka. And I pray for all those hurt by the terror.

Thanks everyone. :) It's comforting to know that compassion and understanding can still be found, even if it's in the anonymity of the internet instead of in the person next to me.

Oh, and the coffee was much better this morning. Even got a free upsize.

And some people are selfish jerks.

That explanation works for me. It's understandable to worry about how things may affect your life on a personal/financial level, but the person mentioned here seemed a little too "money hungry", so to speak.

I was saddened by the airplane crash...I feel for the families of those who perished....But I would also like to point out how the media tried so hard to make it into something "bigger"...the fear struck me when I first saw the news about the crash. Could it have been terrorism or just a crash...those thoughts went through my head and the news just kept pushing it to thoughts of terrorism. Clearly this was an accident and not terrorism.

Update on the people at the table next that checked their stock when they heard of the plane crash: they are graduate students at the College of Theology.

I always say..."I don't ask..I don't expect to be told."
some peoples' children...
You're right to be upset...that woman has obviously had her head shoved up her ass for quite sometime...

It's good to know the religious leaders of tomorrow have their shit in order.

Did Jesus take care of that Dow Jones thing yet?
