I do not watch Television.

I mistrust people who don't watch television and then feel the need to celebrate themselves for it. Almost invariably, the same people pat themselves on the back for reading a book now and again, as though television watchers couldn't possibly (*gasp*) read.

This is the conversation I imagine every time I see people bragging about how totally above TV watching they are:

--Shall we watch "The History Channel," dearest? Just a bit, pumpkin?
--Don't you dare turn that thing on! It's all rubbish, just nonsense...
--My, aren't we superiah, dahling?
--*giggle* Oh, don't be rude, snookums; some people don't know any better.

LOL

I guess I won't post my thread about not owning a cell phone or an answering machine now.

Nice one, SIN. Of course, now there's Vanilla Coke all over my screen. ;)

Hamlet: Nah, post it. Come on...it'll be fun.

I don't usually watch TV. I like CSPAN, Law & Order, some of A&E's crime show line up and some of the Discovery Channel's crime show line up. I rarely, if ever, get to watch any of it because most of it comes on during Toonami or the good stuff is on when I have better things to do.

I log about 25 hours of TV a year.

I prefer DVD.

hey, i'm way too adicted to television to turn it on. it's like that "just one drink" for me.

if have this when i need to watch a glowing cathode tube, and when i yell here, at least (sometimes) people actually pay attention.

I don't own a TV. I can't say I don't watch it, though, because everytime I leave the house, I see TVs everywhere. In restaurants, in stores, in the pimped out cars next to me on the road... it's largely inescapable.

And I really do wish to know all about Buffy.... too many people I respect and adore are crazy about the show for me to go on not knowing.

I'm with Laurel on this one.

There's some damn good things that come off of HBO. I found certain moments in "Band of Brothers" to be some of the most powerful I have ever seen on film and will undoubtedly add that to my collection the moment it's release on DVD.

Of course my main use for the TV is still sports, movies, the various Discovery Channels, the History Channel, and "Simpsons" reruns. I haven't actually followed a primetime network TV show since about the 6th season of "Seinfeld" so that's been a few years.

And it's funny, usually when I come across people talking about the goings on of a primetime network TV show my usual knee jerk reaction is just to show "OMG, you mean someone actually watch's that crap?", which is always good for the upturned eye brow or two, lol.

I haven't noticed that stopping you from having a drink...or two.

My television is usually on when I'm home.

I turn and watch it when Simpsons or Jeopardy! are on.

I like the background noise.

You should never have just one drink--you wouldn't want it to be lonely, would you?

You forget, thats the glitch that SHOULDNT be working.

I like Draaah's glitch just fine thankyouverymuch! (Probably because I've got a similar one.)

If it wasn't for sports (football in particular), I wouldn't miss it too much.

If only it wasn't Oprah 24/7. That woman owns that town.

I participated in the Neilsen ratings service a few years back. Over the course of two weeks I had seen about three hours of television, all on other people's sets.

I *do* love you, leX. :D

Though, I actually feel almost-kinda special to be the reason this oldie got dug up today. Especially since I'm almost never on the GB anymore.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be insecure about, though. Pedestrian tastes? I'm not exactly shocked and appalled by that idea--it's hardly big news to me. But, you know, whatever gets you through the day. ;)

I watch and very much enjoy TV, when I have the time. I love HBO. "Russell Simmons' Presents Def Poetry" and "Sex and the City" are my favorites. I also really enjoy "History's Mysteries" (History Channel) and most everything on Discovery Science. I really like to watch stand-up comedy whenever I run across it too, even the lousy acts and the bits I've seen a hundred times already.

I finally gave up on "Dawson's Creek" when it sank into the teen-drama quagmire of post high school--very sadly, I watched it go the way of "90210" in the post-Brenda years. I'm looking for another show to fill the teen-angst void left in the wake of Dawson's demise. Perhaps soon... ;)

Risia, when you find something to fill the gap, TELL me
