I didn't answer your p.m. because.....

I meant to, but then life happened... then you sent me multiple asking why I hadn't replied & that put me off

Wisdom in those words right there
"No answer is a answer" may be true, and in some cases the correct answer. Case in point; stalkers who don't take "NO" for an answer.

However, it can also be rude as well as lazy. A simple and hopefully polite answer conveying a lack of interest would be much more considerate.

I've answered every PM, though I haven't had near as many as every one else on here seems to get. I try to be thoughtful and kind. Maybe I fail sometimes.

But not answering a PM is like not acknowledging anothers "Hi", or "excuse me", for example.

I learned to say excuse me when I had to pass in front of someone and couldn't pass behind them. I do that all the time in stores. Most people act as if I have a big 10" dildo duct taped to my forehead.

That really pisses me off. Surely they can clearly see no dildo on this giant pumpkin head.

It’s not a blanket statement. “ no answer is a answer”

If a stalker , or non stalker personality doesn’t get it , that’s on them. The idea that we have a social contract to converse with a complete stranger is out dated Especially in this day and age of social media. That opens the door to so many more bad things then good things. Even more so here where there is a potential for sexual deviants misbehaving or being a unwanted advance.

Male or female , straight men get sent unwanted PM’s from bi men just as much as woman get them from straight men.

There are so many examples of why not taking the time and effort to reply to a PM isn’t as rude as it appears at face value.

No worries tho , I learned that from experience. I used to answer all PM , here or on other actual sex hook up sites. In this day and age we have junk mail folders , we have spam folders and we have common sense. I hope that doesn’t read as gruff , that’s not my intent. I’m just trying to express my reasoning for that policy.

OMG yes!!! If I log into Lit and see 5 messages from the same person, it annoys the hell out of me. I'm polite and try to always reply, but that gets really old. Especially when I reply to all 5 messages on ONE message and then I get 6 in reply. *sigh*

Careful when replying bambi, you never know where the skeletons will place their hands

I'm old enough to remember the day and age without social media. It never was a social contract. If anything, the reverse is true. But in both cases, whoever enters into your life, in any shape or form, it is you (not you personally) who let them in. They did not force or pry their way into your reality.

That’s so profound , kudos. I’m digesting it and trying to come up with a logical rebuttal reply. Not so much personally, but for conversations sake.

More so focused on the social contract * theme , meaning ? Something along those lines. That’s a interesting conversation in a space like this.

Maybe you are ref. to things like etiquette? That is up to you as well.
If you don't want to or don't feel in the mood for it, just don't. If somebody thinks, or you give the impression, of you as being rude, you have to take that into account and be good with it. After all, you're not giving a damn about what they might think in first place.
