I hate scrolling through lover quotes, pictures, quizzes, pictures, tests, etc. Keep your sig line to the point.

Yes, this is a free forum, but, if your sig lines take up half a screen, you migh want to think about others, then yourself.

What I wanna know is who pissed in his wheaties, that sounded kinda harsh, I think. :kiss:

I've found the easiest way to deal with them is to put the person on ignore, then click on the link...giving me a small box in the upper left corner that has the post without scrolling through all the long sig lines. Also takes up less room on the threads....

I just turn off the sig lines and AV's............. loved the phrase, "pissed in his wheaties"

I like seeing people's AV's and I do enjoy reading some of the quotes in sig lines as well. I don't wanna have to miss some because of one that I don't enjoy, so the ignore works better for me.

Always that phrase was an interesting one. lol

I hate those ridiculously long sig lines too. I always figure people who have them are simply selfish and have egos as big as the sig lines.

I'm new though so I have 3 questions:

1. How do I turn off the sig lines?

2. How do I put people on ignore and then read them without the sig lines?

3. How do I get a lady to piss in my wheaties? LOL.

Go to 'user cp' at the top and edit.............. now about the pissing in your wheaties, that I can't help you with..........

when someone is on your ignore list and you click on their post you can still open it.............. it opens in a new window

Hey red...what's up?

"free forum"...why complain about anybodys sig line?

I just don't understand why anyone would complain about sig lines, this has been debated many times on many threads...does it really take that long to scroll down a page? Is it a race or something?

There are some really nice sig lines, very interesting and colorful, and some have links that maybe I would not see if they were not in that persons sig line. Such as links to their stories or pic threads.

Some days I have a sig line and some days I don't. Just how I feel at the time.

Of course this is just my humble opinion.

..........and your opinion, no matter how humble, matters.

I don't complain about the long lines, or anything else. If I don't want to read it, I turn it off. Once a week or so, I turn it back on just to see what has changed. If someone makes a comment about someone's AV or sig line, then I look at their profile. I think that's the better option.

I didn't have an AV for the longest, then finally I added one.

I know some people really get a kick out of sig lines and AV's and I wouldn't want to deprive them of that pleasure.

OOPS

Did I piss in someone wheaties? excuse me.....one thing I am proud to express that I am proud to be an American and Happy Birthday America.......if it is such a bother then turn them off....but some people appreciate color, they want to let people get to know them through their AV's and Sig lines and that their personaility is more then just a box of wheaties.....:).so if my decorating offends anyone.......all I can say is don't look. :) Have a good one Oh and Happy 4th of July

"Adding color" to the forum is one thing. But your sig is a page and a half long. Yes, by any reasonable standard that crosses a line into ridiculous.

and your boring so what is your point ???

Im guessing our friend has dial-up internet access. It takes longer to load with sig lines and av's. I found it easier to disable them.

I'm pretty neutral on the subject, and I see either view as being a personal preference. Freedom of speech is dear to the heart here, as is personal expression and creativity.

Some have offered the 'turn off Av's & Sig line option,' and another the 'Ignore' option. I don't do either, I enjoy seeing the AV's that people choose.

Some threads are difficult to read when people with long Sig lines post repeatedly, often 2 or more posts in a row. It's hard to find other people's posts. Maybe this is what Red was talking about?

There is another option, one that the person posting can control. When typing a post into the box, look below for the following options.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Automatically parse URLs: automatically adds and around internet addresses.
Email Notification: emails sent to you whenever someone replies. Only registered users are eligible.
Disable Smilies in This Post
Show Signature: include your profile signature. Only registered users may have signatures.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The last option gives you control of how often you drop your Sig line. If you uncheck the box before submitting your reply, that particular post (alone) will not show a Sig line.

Maybe those with very long Sig lines could opt out every other post or so? The freedom to express yourself would not be lost.

LOL ditto.......and after the 4th it will be shorter......this is like my Christmas;)

EW, glad you are here because your sig line is probably the longest of all. I've been trying to find a polite way to tell you that it interferes with my ability to follow your discussions.

You have some great things to say, but between any quote and your sig line my eye cannot easily find your words. Reading from a computer screen is tiring enough on the eyes. Lookiing for someone's message in a sea of large colorful and flashing stuff doesn't help. I find myself avoiding your posts alltogether. I know I can't be the only one who reacts this way.

When people skip your posts because the posts are not easily readable, I would think both you and they lose. What would happen if Lit put your huge sig line every few scrolls in the middle of your stories? I doubt many people would put in the work and eye strain required to try to read and follow those stories. Same goes with your posts.

Sure you have a right to have a long sig line, just like you have a right to have a 42 foot high nude neon Santa Claus flashing on your lawn at Christmas. It's a question of being a good neighbor. (And no, please don't ask me where I bought my 42 ft. Santa)

Aside to those with flashing sig lines: They are even worse than long ones. They intentionally destroy the eyes of someone reading a computer screen.

I can't just turn off your sig without turning off everyone else's. That's not fair to me or them. I guess I could put you on my ignore list, but is that what you want? Your neighbors putting you on their ignore list? Please let me read what you write.

HAPPY 4TH! :)
