Can somebody help me? I have submitted stories by email in the normal manner. After quite some time they are still pending. I have messaged Laurel to check that the emails have reached her. I have had no reply. I messaged Manu in case Laurel was away or something. I have had no reply. Could someone ask them if I have been banned or are my messages and emails just not getting through.

You haven't been banned as you are still posting. Manu does tech stuff. Laurel alone does publishing. It can take a week or so sometimes. She doesn't publish on weekends and Mon. was a holiday here so keep that in mind.

Double check to make sure that you really did submit it. Once, I thought I had submitted it but I hadn't!

Are there any animals or children in the story? Anything that might violate a rule? What is the genre?

Have you tried submitting through your Author's Control Panel? I know the FAQs list email as a submission route, but the FAQs are ancient - does anyone submit by email now? I'm not sure that email is normal nowadays.

Ah... That could be it! I think I remember seeing that email wasn't the preferred way to do it and it would take longer. I just copy and paste to submit.

I've submitted by both email and the author's interface in the last few months. The email took longer, but both worked.

For images inline, you have to submit by email in .doc/.docx format

Thanks for the help. I shall submit using the author's control panel and see if that works any better.

Or just attach a .doc or .docx file to the form in the online submission making sure to anchor the picture where you want it to appear.

My story has been published now. I am grateful for the advice you all gave me. What a nice helpful bunch Lit. members are, well done you lot.

I just went to check your profile and take a look at your story. 62 published stories :D I thought you were new but you were just gone for 2.5 years.

From the FAQ on submitting a story;

5. All manuscripts must be submitted as via the site scripts as Word files (.doc), text files (.txt) or Rich Text Files (.rtf), or pasted into the submission form. If your story uses bolds ot italics, you will need to submit it as a .doc or .rtf.

(You may submit via email, but your story will be considered & posted much, much faster if you submit through your online profile as described in our FAQ. Important Note: If you DO submit via email, you MUST follow the instructions for doing so in the FAQ. If you simply send us a story via email without following the procedure, your submission will be ignored.)
