I can NOT believe what a mess they made of the author's activity page!

Whoever thought up the idea for the new author's activity page should be horse whipped. What a fucking mess! All the "Favorite Stories,"....GONE! I had a bunch of multi-chapter stories I was reading, they're all gone. If you want to see if you have any new comments you have to sift through an ocean of mindless and insignificant crap.

Why the hell can't these damn websites just leave things alone. They're always fixing things that aren't broken to make things..."better."

Personally I think it is better. If you give it a chance I think you'll find the links you need.

Nonsense - IMHO, it's much better than before.

All your previous links etc. are still there.

Once you find them and get used to them, you'll look back on the old format and realize that it needed killing.

The new page is WAY better than before. This one I might actually use. Being able to sort Works by several criteria is cool. Getting notifications of favorite authors is great. Clean, intuitive, informative, easy to use.

It might be better if I could see the ****ing thing! The definition is too faint.

I'll probably warm to it in time, although thus far I suspect it is less useful to those of us with hundreds of stories than the older view is (I'm sticking with the older view until it's taken away from me). Just continue to be irritated that they play with what's not necessary and don't work on broken parts of the system.

So when you click on Following nothing appears? Or My Followers?

I can see a list of authors I'm following (it's very short). A list of people following me isn't displayed, but it would be too long to list and who knows how many of those accounts are still live, so I doubt it would be a meaningful list anyway.

Being able to sort my various stories by various criteria is nice, but I have < 60 submissions and it still spans 3 pages. I can see why pilot's annoyed. It's way too space intensive.

I haven't had problems with contrast. But I'd imagine they'll have to add a high contrast mode eventually. Note that at the very bottom of this page, and likely most others, there's a style chooser, but it doesn't seem to have a high contrast option or affect text color. That's an oversight and probably fixable.

I think folk here aren't appreciating how fundamentally painful the old site was to navigate. People just got used to it. I don't know that I like the new one more, but except for the list of my stories, I don't see it as worse.

There's the links you're looking for. In time, you'll also be able to utilize the "reading list" for this purpose, rather than having to favorite a story just to bookmark it. Favorite listings will be for favorites only.

Click to reach this tab from "reading lists" and you can filter down to what the old activity page looked like, with the exception of a preview of the comments.

You might want to look around the new interface a bit if you think anything else is broken :)

In the old format, my story view page is one scrolling page, nicely spaced and easy to read. In the new format, my story list is given in 37 separate click pages.

I made a serious error with one of my Valentine's Day Contest stories.

I titled it "You Who Know..." so it is on page 12 of my submissions.

I think my next story's title will start with Aardvark.

I have twelve pages instead of one.

For some of us the new Control Panel is awkward to see. For a few it is impossible. It is NOT an improvement. Design has trumped function.

I wasn't expecting much. I expected new functionality but I thought we would get a version EASIER to use. This one just isn't, particularly if like me you have hundreds of submissions.

It is meant for Authors to use, not the general users of Literotica. It is a tool for us. The old system was flawed. As far as I am concerned the new one is WORSE than the old, even discounting my familiarity with the old.

It isn't the SITE that has changed, just the Control Panel. The SITE is still clunky. The FAQs, used by newbies, are difficult to find and not very helpful. All that has been changed is the Control Panel. What use to me are 54 pages of Favorites that are so faint I'm not sure what I'm seeing?

It could have been so much better if it had been kept simple and had been designed for authors to USE rather than for pretty graphics.

Edited for PS: Like some other authors, if the old Control Panel is scrapped before the new one has better functionality and readability, it will be the last straw that sends me away from Literotica.

There's a story search feature, so you can type in the name and go directly to the story stats instead of scrolling through.

I can do that by using the link in my signature. I can't edit comments that way.

Oh... there it is. 131 pages? I guess I won't be looking at it too often.

Wow. And I thought 50 pages was bad. I like being able to see whose following me but really, just a list I can scroll t hru. That many pages is practical to page thru.

How about 270 pages of followers.

They seem to be sorted by their join date which does me no good at all. When did they favor me would be good to know. Maybe.

It looks OK so far.

I use it as an intro to the site. I don't list following. I don't list followers or following .

The whole site needs a make over IMHO, too complicated, trying to do too much and could do without all the adverts, but I expect they pay, but all those commercial site can be mentioned but not ASSTR.

For the hell of it I checked my followers just to see how many pages it would be (I have just shy of 8800) and i keep getting Oops there was an error and 'No followers yet? Publish stories!"

I wonder if it can only handle so many?

Every time the note 'XXX is following you' pops up I have to quell the urge to look around in case someone's right behind me, looking suspiciously innocent, and whistling while they shove a blunt object back up their sleeve...

I reposted that one on the Tech Spt thread for the new Control Panel. I'd made a comment earlier that it was bad for me with 500 followers and 50 pages. I think you're case is an illustration of some of the challenges at the outer end of the bell curve.

And yes, probably some sort of page limit.

Favorites/Followers are like votes. When it works in our favor, we are all for them. When they work against us, the site owners here become a bunch of idiots who have no idea how to run a successful site.

A small reality check. There has never been a way to bookmark a story to read later. So making the story or the author a favorite was the only way to do it. That's still the case. Many (no idea how many) Favorites/Followers are simply Bookmarks.

There's another reason Favorites/Followers are not so useful. It used to be that you would be Favorited, earning yourself a little heart. Then the ingrate assholes would unFavorite you when they had read the story or had second thoughts, earning you a big broken heart. Apparently, that was way too traumatic and we no longer get the dreaded broken heart. I think it is still counted as a Favorite/Follower, though.

Full discloser: I have 35 "Followers". I doubt anybody is following me, certainly not 35 readers. I don't do enough stories to make it worthwhile. I'm pretty sure upwards of 35 readers have bookmarked me, but the idea that any of them are actually following me is ridiculous.

Until we have a way to conveniently bookmark stories I want to read or reconsider, I will continue to Favorite half a dozen a day (between new and archive stories). That's nearly a couple of thousand Follows a year over the last 15 years and that's just from me, one reader.

No problem with a writer patting themselves on the back. That's the main function of AH. But statistics based on bullshit are bullshit^2.

Supposedly the bookmark feature is coming soon. Whenever that is.

I hate to tell ya but the broken heart Icon is still in use.

A pessimistic obsessive compulsive. How odd for a writer. :D
