My light on the kitchen ceiling finally crapped out. These bulbs are supposed to last 9 years so my probably of having to change them is somewhere around 91%. I practically had to rebuild the entire house to hang up the new lite. Oh, and a new switch. It was time.

I said a few words over the old lamp in the garbage can.

It seemed fitting.

Rejuvenating and renovating are good things.

91%? two thumbs up!

If you mean CFLs, the newest thing is LEDs. Better and may last even longer.

Or not.

Hopefully not made in China cuz those effers start fires in nine years when they die.

Those sound like compact fluorescents, which is old hat, the new stuff is LEDs.

Also LEDs come in warm colors, not just penal colony bright grey ;)

The curly light bulbs always go out on me. Maybe it's because I buy the cheap ones, but it seems like they always just quit working.

I have had CFLs catch fire. I don't like them.

There was some suspicious behavior going on in the ceiling- wiring from years gone by. It required some "adaptation" to make it all work.

In 9 years I'll replace them with the new photon emitters.

I just changed out two of the CFLs that my landlord put in with LEDs because the light color was getting to me esp. the kitchen when I would go in at night, plus it wasn't instant on.

It's a much happier light for me, also my bedroom.

The big thing was the new fixture. The old one was about to combust. It is really bright...1.5 brighter at least. Plus half the time the old one was running on one incandescent.

Of course the normal CFL will help the deceased/goth/zombie look if that is what you wish.:D

These are from Menards because you find great values when you shop Menards.

No Menards around here. Just Lowes and Home Despot. If there was a Menards, I would have a red AKORN smoker/grill.

The LEDs are coming in warm white, now.

I laid out in the sun for 6 weeks while I was convalescing. I look marvelous in any lite. The mice will need sunglasses tho.

Brighter is better. I got one bulb from Costco and two from Menards.
The big problem with this place, is it still has some period enclosed light fixtures which is hard to find bulbs for. The entrance hall has an old badly re-wired one, so I will wait to change out that until it's properly wired again.

I forget how old this house is until i look behind the painted walls.
