I recall a quote by John D. Rockefeller that he uttered shortly before the enactment of the Income Tax amendment. It too was sold as a "let's get the rich" sort of law. An early form of redistribution. (That really worked out well.)

In any event his quote was along the lines of "I don't care if they round up all the money in the nation and divide it out equally. Within a year I'll have all my money back."

From what I can tell, he/she thinks the "rich" are the reason we don't have his precious "libertarianism" here, because the government invests in the economy in various ways which is part of some conspiracy to funnel money to these "rich" boogeypeople or whoever they are. Whether that has a small grain of truth in it or not, most people don't want libertarianism anyway so its sort of a moot point.

Personally, I'm a supporter of a corporatist state in which the government DOES invest in business for the good of the people, and on behalf of the people. Will there possibly a windfall for a few folks in the right place at the right time, probably, but so what, imagine what would happen if we let the banks fail or had no auto industry left at all. What a disaster for the economy as a whole and for the "little people" especially.

In fact, the party is over because of the 47% who aren't paying their fair share (or anything at all) and taking disproportionate amounts of the wealth. When you drive around and see all the stores with big "Proud to accept EBT" posters in the window, and these EBT people with 10 kids seem to feel no shame about it at all, indeed, that they are entitled to it for some reason, that's why the party is over.
