Actually for me it is reversed- my real life is the coverup and ficition. Mostly because I would be considered far to eccentric to get a job and my in-laws live next door.
For example- In here and to many of my RL friends I make no secret of the fact that I am pagan. Most of the people in the RW that I associate with do not know this. It could get me fired. I also do not have the tattoo or hair color I wnat in real life because I would not be able to keep my job if I did and I would catch crap from all of my relatives if I did. Although my hubby wouldn't care.
My real self is far more flamboyant than my real life can handle.
