too much.
BUT!!!!!!!
Tonight I got a call from my brother, whom I'd not had the honor of speaking to since xmas eve, because life is busy. Well, I was not here but I called him back and he was sort of joking around and said "I was searching the internet on artists and there is some chick out there named Starfish that is impersonating you. She some how has acess to all of your paintings and made a website for them." wink, wink, nudge, nudge
I giggled and then proceeded to tell him that I am sorry that I never showed him my site, but that I didn't want him to see it until it was done, and that when I got it done, I forgot to send him a link...
WELL.... I got an earfull of "My baby sister is a real artist. Oh goodie, blah blah.... I am so proud of you... By the way, you know that I am great friends with several of the area's local gallery owners, I have tons of friends who are heavily in the artist community here, and that our good friend (whom I know too, but didn't know this) is the Chair for the Black Swamp Arts Festival, held in Bowling Green annually. I will work some magic and try and get some of your work into a gallery here asap."
We joked around a bit, and I took this all in light at first, but he was serious. His wife, my dear friend, even got on the phone to tell me that he is serious and has been ranting about me since he saw my site, about helping me get into the area galleries and to have a booth at this years festival, this August.
I said that I could probably have 5 or so peices done for the festival, and he laughed and said that I'd need more than that because I'd be sold out in a day, and it is for three days. I said I didn't know if I could, and that is when he said something that shocked me.... "You need to have lithograph numbered prints done so you can sell more, and then the originals can go to the galleries and hopefully you can get a buyer then that will shell out a lot of money."
I was stumped but thrilled. How the fuck am I going to have lithographs made????? Well, he just so happend to then say that another friend of his has a degree in digital media, but that he worked for a printer for years, and specialized in lithograph. He said that in two weeks we'll get together and he can give me all the info he gets, and talk turkey.
What I am so excited about is that I know he isn't bullshitting me. He will show these people, who have a great foothold on the art scene in Toledo, my website, and hopefully, something great may come of all of this.
I just wanted to share this with you all....
I've shared my pain and my joys here with my lit family...
I am happy that this is a joy.
Okay, I'll pull my head out of the clouds now...
