I Am Not A Virgin! Need Help

I didn't care about the virgin thing but I WANTED an avatar !! :D
Well, aren't the two situations similar?

Here, a newbie poster is labeled a virgin. They are new to the forum (which is on a web site of sexual content, hence the label), so it fits.
But, it's the AV they are most probably envious of, when you think about it. The only connection to the word "virgin" is the time we all went through.

A time in life when we were new to something else, and that something else was sometimes kept from us, and we were then also labeled naive. Someone who is naive is not necessarily a virgin, but a virgin is usually naive, to a point.

The virgin has this growing need for his/her first sexual experience, when the label of virgin (and in most cases the additional label of naive) can be tossed to the side, so to speak.

Now, most of us would love to have that coveted AV, when we begin posting. It's seen as a sign of status, of existence and of longevity. I don't think the label that's connected to it would bother anyone, if not for the time we all had it forced on us, when we were younger.

Incidentally, the number to advance in one instance is 30 and in the other, it's only 1. But, for most, this 30 is an easier quest.

Those younger times were difficult for most everybody, and times we would like to forget. They're my thoughts, lengthy, tho they are.

When I started, there were no avs. I thought the virgin title was funny, though. Back then, hitting 1000 and getting a title was a big deal. You had to PM Laurel to get it changed, you couldn't change it yourself.

Now people hit 1000, 5000, 10,000, and more and nobody blinks.

i've often wondered: do the site operators realize that by implementing those breakpoints, they cause people to become postcount whores? is that actually desirable on a site this active?

ed

Posstwhores exist anyway. The titles just make it more fun for the postwhores and makes the community more alive, even if it is all postwhoring.

The forum I moderate is slowly reaching that point. I reached 10,000 like two or three months ago making me the third person to do so and now there are 5 people there and four or five looking to take on 10,000. The forum is ballooning and while this forum is not the fastest forum in the world it is certainly growing and people have been here longer than 5 years. (My forum switched from an HTML forum to PhPBB three years ago (Jan 2002).

Personally I don't mind being labeled a virgin........it has been a LONG LONG time since I have been labeled a virgin.....lol

Virgin eh

Hey it's been a bunch of years since i been a virgin and I still am as far as Lit is concerned. I guess I would rather listen than speak if I am still a virgin in another 20 year O well. Guess thats a burden I will have to bear.

:: Notes that Leo has been a member for 12 days now since he posted this plaintive query, and now has the grand total of 17 posts. At this rate, he'll no longer be a virgin on May 11th or 12th. :: Congratulations in advance!
