My father just called.

"Well, how's it going? I am fielding all my calls. Everyone has called and I am going up to bed..."

"Oh shit, Dad.... I feel horrible, I am so sorry."

I forgot his fucking birthday. I never forgotten his fucking birthday. God, I suck.

"Don't worry about it," he said. "You owe me one..."

SHIT!

Get yer butt on a plane, train, car, bike...whatever and go see him this weekend. Then you'd be a great son...really great.:)

He's an Aquarian - he doesn't care! You'll find a way to make it up to him... I get calls, 2-3-4 days after... eh? It's a just a date on the calendar.... :)

People forget riff.

It's understandable that you feel guilty and I have every reason to believe that you are going to do something to make it up to him. Do what you think is necessary to show your father that your upset about missing his b-day. If this is the first one, then I'm sure he is genuine about you not worrying.

If your relatively close to each other, go pay him a visit. If not...send him a stripper.

Yeah, riff, ease up a bit, though I know how you feel.

I forgot my Dad's birthday this past year. I got him a day or so later, and felt just aweful. He said "That's okay kiddo, I stopped having birthdays 7 years ago."

I realized that he would rather have me remembering things that really matter to him...

Like getting really rich, fast, so he can retire on my money. :D

Write your dad a letter thanking him for calling you Thank him for loving you. Thank him for forgiving you of your childhood stupidities. Remind him of a few that were funny. Remind him of times that one of your embarassed the other that is an enjoyable memory now. Make the letter at least 2 pages long. Put forth some effort. Give him something that will be treasured way more than any old card or plastic-bought-object.

And then get down on your knees and thank God that you were blessed with such a father. Mine has never once called me since I moved from his house almost 11 years ago. He told me a year and a half ago to never call or bother him again. I was raised knowing how despised I was and hope to never, ever be so full of hatred to my children.

Get your pen and pretty paper out now. Write down a few ideas of things you can work in to a full length letter. Give your dad the best birthday gift he can possibly recieve--proof that being a father was the best thing he has ever done.

I agree

with Blondgirl. I think that your Dad would rather have a letter with your memories then anything that you could buy. However I don't think he would mind retiring on your money, LOL

2 Sheets of Paper .02
1 ball point pen .49
Memories of times spent with your DAD Priceless!

Don't feel too bad. My dads' birthday was last Friday and I didn't remember until that morning. That is very unlike me. I did get to call him later in the day but I had to send his card and gift late. Everyone forgets from time to time. That doesn't make you a bad son.

EVERYONE forgot my birthday this month!

:D

The makeup sex was wondeful!

Planning on not reminding him ever again!
