Dr.Seuss

Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as the beloved Dr. Seuss, was born in 1904 on Howard Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. Ted's father, Theodor Robert, and grandfather were brewmasters in the city. His mother, Henrietta Seuss Geisel, often soothed her children to sleep by "chanting" rhymes remembered from her youth. Ted credited his mother with both his ability and desire to create the rhymes for which he became so well known.

At the time of his death on September 24, 1991, Ted had written and illustrated 44 children's books, including such all-time favorites as Green Eggs and Ham, Oh, the Places You'll Go, Fox in Socks, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. His books had been translated into more than 15 languages. Over 200 million copies had found their way into homes and hearts around the world.

I have most of his books.
My fave though is still Green eggs and ham.
whats yours?

To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, or On Beyond Zebra... I think Geisel worked-with Frank Capra and Ray Bradbury, during WWII Defense Department public-relations efforts...

we're having Dr. Seuss week at the center. We're doing a display of all our babies feet and have green eggs and ham for breakfast.

I suppose he's good at writing children's books but what about novelists?
I read mostly horror.
I also love to read about true crimes. Ann Rule writes the best crime stories.

I loved Fox in Socks - still do. I used to have an album of the poem read by Sterling Holloway that I still remember to this day.

Oh, Geisel was also briefly an editorial cartoonist during World War II - what we today would call a rank propagandist. His editorial cartoons can be found on this site.

EDIT: There's a more comprehensive collection at this site.
