hypothetical question??

After watching Xmen, the memories came back of when I was younger and wanted to be a mutant (like one of the Xmen that is... haha)!

I always thought if I could choose my power it would be either flying or better yet, a healing touch.

Also, a really cool one would be MIND READING (I saw this hitchcock episode where this penny landed exactly on its side for a day and then fell flat finally, but while it was precariously balanced this man ... whom I think was played by Darren from "Bewitched" could hear other people's thoughts and it changed his life. ) Hmmmm I hope that doesn't make me too nosy?


So,
IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
(Curious to see how many people choose power of seduction or something similarly "sex-related.")

Hmmmmmm. I've always been intregued by the idea of mind-reading, but as someone with a startling degree of empathy, I'm afraid it would suck too much, seeing as how I don't like the non-super-power sensitivity I have now most of the time.

Storm kicks ass.. Maybe to control the weather? Nahhhhh.

If anything, I'd want the one that I think reflects my insides the most.. Mystique's: (No, not the ability to look hot even with blue scales! *L*) to shift my shape into anything I wished. I feel like a chameleon most of the time, might as well be one.

I would choose telekinesis, for those pesky dropped things and getting a soda from the fridge.

Also, fire-breathing, so that when people piss me off, they're toast!!

But if I had a super power it'd be power over the elements. But for right now, I'd take the mind reading because I need answers to questions that are tearing me up.

I don't want a superpower. But I always did like that show "Millionaire", and always wondered what it would feel like to pick someone week after week to give a million dollars to.

Super healing
And above all, the power of all animals who ever lived on this planet.

Which would also include the power of flight, strength, agility, stamina and about a million other cool features.

But Mind reading. No way, that would drive me insane in a matter of minutes. Just think being able to "hear" everybodies thoughts. Never will you get a calm and silent moment. Nope, no mind reading for me.

Well, I would sort of hope that it would be a power you could control (use or not use) so if you didn't want to hear people you didn't have to....

I think "time" is very all powerful... kind of controls everything in a way.

This is going off on a tangent, sort of, but...I think that emotional pain is necessary to life. If everytime you had something nasty happen, EmotionMan could make you feel better, then your personality, your soul, would have no room to grow. Feeling shitty is, well, shitty while it's happening, but is not something I'd want to erase from my life.

I wouldn't want to hear people's thoughts. That would make it far to easy to judge them on their thoughts, and not their actions, which is what really counts.

Now, on topic, I think I would like the power of Wise Persuasion, maybe. I'd like to have the ability to see all sides of an issue clearly, and then have the power to communicate what I'd seen to other people and have them understand.

Or, maybe, the power to grant wishes and the ability to see who deserves to have wishes granted.

I can see that I'm a picky Superhero. The powers I want have sub-powers.

Since this is purely hypothetical...I want the power to read minds...but only when I want to. Gotta be able to turn that off. WOuldn't wanna HAVE to read minds. You know...kinda like that selective hearing children have whereby they can hear an icecream truck from 50 miles away but can't hear you asking them to come to dinner in the kitchen? Yep...thats what I want. Or maybe just the blessing of selective hearing again...that would be nice.

what'd be even better is if that time-controlling power allowed you to force time for everyone else to flow backwards... you could exist outside time, but enter and leave as you chose... man... that has some serious potential.
