Has anyone here on Lit tried Hypnotherapy for one thing or another?
I;ve been hearing commercials on the radio for this john morgan guy, and i'm wondering if these hypnosis sessions really work like they say. Sounds like a gimmick to me, but i've also read somre reviews on the 'net that say it works. I was looking for an unbiast opinion.

Thanks.

I know someone who tried hypnotherapy do deal with (inoperable) chronic pain and said it helped.

I'm with you on the weight loss thing. Some people are just genetically predispositioned to obesity. No matter what diet they try, they are destined to fail.

As far as the "group hypnosis" thing is concerned, I tried the quit smoking one, but it didn't do the trick. I DO believe however, that a one on one session of hypnosis can help with certain issues. I'd just like to find one in my area to help me quit smoking.

My hubby & went to one to try to quit smoking back when we were just dating. It worked for me, but not for him. That's how it seems to go... Works for some people & not others. I have no idea why.

I work in an office with a lady who does hypnotherapy, and my point of view is if you want it to work it will. If you doubt it, it won't.

I think i goes back to the mind over matter idea. A person's brain is capable of extraordinary things, if they believe they can do something. The belief is often more powerful than the reality. If any of that makes sense...

It does, which is where the aforementioned weight loss comes in. It wouldn't be about magically making you smaller, but instead about strengthening your determination and willpower, that yes, you can live without that brownie, and no, you shouldn't skip the gym. That sort of thing.

I'm interested, too, for arachnaphobia. It really does affect my life, terribly, and I'd love to lose it.

I used hypnobirthing to deliver one of my babies. I can't say it took away the pain, but it was amazingly relaxing. It was hard for me to get through all of the CDs though because I was TOO relaxed and ued to fall asleep *lol* A lot of women swear they have pain free births from using this technique, but mine was not pain-free. A lot less painful than the first, but not pain free.

I agree with the person who said a lot of it is mind over matter. If you believe it and trust it, it can probably help you.
