What do you think of it? Hocus pocus, or something more to it? Is it safe, you think?

I was thinking of trying it out to help with issues like motivation and weight control.... and possibly even to improve my already sweet and sunny disposition... :D

I'd be grateful for any input, am looking forward to your opinions and maybe even experiences, here in the thread or via pm. Thanks!

I haven't been hypontized but several of my friends have been. We go to a local Ren. fair which has a man who specializes in it. They love the experience...totally relaxing and refreshing. One purchased his cd on how to quit smoking, it did help her reduce how much she smoked I must admit.

Personally I do not think I'd trust someone enough to allow them that control over me. The power and possible damage associated with that is frightening, lol. Perhaps if a friend monitored the session then I would. For me it comes down to this...Do I really want someone changing my personality?

I share that concern, really it's what's held me back so far. There are some "licensed" hypnotists here in this area, I wonder if said license means that they are responsible and trustworthy?

In theory yes, lol. But then I always think of those doctors which don't know what they are doing and cut off the wrong leg or misdiagnois.

I think that it would your choice to find the right hypnotist and see if there is one that you trust enough with that.

Have you tried alternate ways to deal with *it*?

Nightmare! I might end up all zonked out, remember that movie Naked Gun where Priscilla Presley's character walks around like a zombie, saying "I must kill Frank Drebben" over and over again until she finds him and almost does..... Yikes!

I used to do Yoga and actually I was never quite sure that the teacher didn't do some sort of hypnosis on us in class, because I did notice a change or two in my behavior... then again, maybe that's just what Yoga does to people.

It's a load of old bollocks. No-one can possibly be hypnot.......... yes master.....

You shall be a good boy......... You shall be a good boy.....

Of course. Would I be anything else? Don't need hypnotism for that.

When they were alive my folks liked to tell me about the time my mother was allowed to be hypnotised as part of a stage act on a cruise and my father refused to speak to her for what she did on stage... I never found out what though.

So it's possible..... but i wouldn't let myself be put under for the reasons previously stated.

Interesting..... and scary. Then again, could be a very liberating experience?

When you begin to act like a chicken when a bell rings *grinz* Yes, that should be liberating. (teasing)

Hello...
The thing with hypnotism is simply this: If you are open to it, and have no reservations, then theoretically you are a person who *can be* hypnotized. Sort of comes down to your faith in the process, from what I've read.

My step sis & i were going to see a man in Phx a few years back...his website made him seem respectable, he was one of those "licensed" fellows...not sure why we never went...think it was because she became pregnant...

But I digress.

I say this: Make an appointment for a consultation. Talk with the hypnotherapist. See how you feel. If you feel comfortable, then I say go for it. Life is too short.

Besides, if you've ever seen Office Space...think about how wonderful that man felt once he just stopped caring? :catroar:

Good luck!

Hi, Office Space is one of my absolute favorite movies...... and if it worked for Peter Gibbons, it will work for me too!

I am actually fairly sure that it would work for me, but I am concerned about what that hypnotist might put into my head - as someone else mentioned above. It is scary to think that they can make me do just about anything they want.

Have a friend sit through it with you. One who is hard headed against it working for them. They'll watch out and make sure you don't go all chicken mentally. :D

Oh hi there, sorry I didn't see you sooner. *Waving down the road to Tucson*

Actually I've decided to put it on hold for now, because..... see the next post.

Hi everyone it's me again, here's an update. I've recently seen a movie with Kevin Bacon where he gets hypnotized, and somewhere in his subconscience a portal got opened and this dead chick came through, turns out she was murdered and cemented into the wall of the house where he lived, and she wouldn't leave him alone until he dug her up and gave her a proper burial...... it totally freaked me out! So I'm thinking maybe I'll just not do the hypnosis thing for now....

Hi Deprived--
Your last post on this thread is ~7 years old, so maybe the idea of hypnosis fell by the wayside for you long ago. All the same, I've had a couple of experiences with it and got what I wanted out of them.

I guess the first thing I realized about hypnosis was that it isn't something somebody else does for you -- only you can make the changes you desire to make. Hypnosis helps you focus your will power and determination, but it doesn't do that for you AND if you don't really want to do something, then guess what?? That is just not going to happen.

I quit smoking with the help of hypnosis and I've lost weight. --for what it is worth.
