Okay...I know this isn't the place. But I needed to tell someone.
This afternoon, I was checking the fences around the property and the fences that border the whole property are barbed wire (the corrals and such are wood so as not to hurt anyone) to keep out as much as possible.
Anyway, about two miles out, I could see a horse, and at first I thought it was one of mine and started panicing but as we got closer, I realized it wasn't any of my horses. I felt a little better, but still wondered where it came from. I still couldn't see it very well, but it looked like it had been thrashing around a lot. It's sides were heaving and it was covered in sweat.
To make a long story short, he had been caught in the barbed wire and had really done a number on himself and the fence...I stitched him up but since the cuts were so big, he's being held together with Velcro until things heal up a little better. He looks to only be about 7 months old. Hopefully this doesn't leave too much of an impact on him.
Velcro (that's what I ended up naming him) will stay here at least until he's healed. Maybe forever...the fence is fine.
Thanks for listening.
