When I lived in the Charlestown, SC area we went through a hurricane warning. We were getting prepared, when several of the neighbors discovered that the were out of matches. Worse yet, there were no matches available anwhere in town. All the stores were sold out. I got home and was told of the situation. I said, "I'll be back in 20 minutes with plenty of matches." I was told, "You don't understand, there are no matches anywhere in town." I said, "I'll be back in 20 minutes with plenty of matches."
In 20 minutes I was back. I had gone to the Food Lion for matches [I already had plenty of food and lions.] There was a sign on the door, 'No matches.' I went in and went to the tobacco section and bought several poly bags, each with two (2) genuine ElCheapo lighters, guaranteed for 5,000 lights. I passed out a genuine ElCheapo lighter to each of several neighbors, saying, "Here are 2,500 matches."
It got us through the hurricane warning time.
