This is a casting call for a thread im starting shortly...

The story is about a small group of vampire hunters in the middle ages chasing a vampire sire, and killing its progeny along he way. As they do some of them will probably become romantically involved with each other.

Im looking for about at least 4 people... no more than 5 though. A good mix of guys to girls would be nice as well.

I might want someone to help me write for a villainess later on but for right now im gonna be role playing any n.p.c.s and directing the flow of the story for everyone. In other words Ill be the GM, untill i open up roles for villians.

Character wise we will need the following broad archtypes;

-A leader (cant be me cause im running the story and since i know everything that just wont work will it ;) )

-A healer (someone like a cleric to patch up heroes... preferably a weaker character)

-A caster (that is a magic user)

and either -A worrior or some form of tough guy/girl...

As for me ill post my character soon... post here with any questions or character ideas or pm me if you prefer. i havent even made my own character so you got a little time to play with before i start this.

HOpe to hear from someone...

Any Chance I could get in on this I've gotta coupla ideas:

Jackson Underhill
(Warrior)
23
6'6
230lbs
Bio: Jackson was born into a catholic family, he was raised to be religious and rigid in his beliefs. However on his 9th birthday his family was accosted by a gang of young Vampires as they made there way home from Church. Jackson watched as his entire family was slaughtered by the vicious bastards. His faith in god was shattered, but as the Vampires turned on him and were about too butcher him, he was saved, by a priest.

Though he never regained his faith Jackson swore to hunt Vampires until he fell in battle against them. He wields a large battle axe, and is skilled with a bow. His strength is great for a man's though it pales in comparison to a Vampyre.

Sure you can Aries :)

BTW GREAT bio... i like it alot. Welcome aboard, i think this will be alot of fun.

Im gonna be starting everyone off together in this... so we will all come up with a way that everyone met... each person can have their bio as the prelude to before they were a hunter and then ill post how everyone met once its decided and then we can start...

So far your the only taker. We need one more guy and 3 more girls and we are ready to go. I also need to work out the first adventure but that wont take me too long...

You mentioned ideas...anything else? other than your character? I could use the imput :)

Jassik's a 28yo man of medium height and of slightly light constitution. With both parents dead when he was kinda young, he was taken in a tower by a well known magician who had detect in him a fair acquaintance with magic. The old man spent much time teachin Jassik the arts of arcanes, but almost nothing of real life. At 28, Jassik was told that it was time to try his magic in the real world, to confront the outside and seek his goal in life. Jassik was then unleashed in the wild...

Welcome to the thread a_man_for_you, its great we have filled the spellcaster spot. So to recap we have our worrior, our mage, and my character will most likely be a ranger type. Ill write my bio soon, im more interested in everyone else.

Ok ladies we need 3 players to pick among a priestess/holywoman/cleric kind of character and i guess whateve anyone wants. I realize the leader can be any of the classes, it doesnt matter to me who, ill leave that up to you guys.

Soon as we get three more writers ill post the story and my bio more aggressively.

Im pleased with the turnout so far. Great characters guys.

As always im available for questions or comments/requests.

Angelica Ramport
(warrior)
Age 23
5'8
125lbs

Angelica grew up on the country side with her father, three brothers and her mother. Since they lived so far from everything and everyone else she trained with her brothers to be a warrior, she was taught the bow, the sword and could even throw a dagger quite well, she had more natural talent then her brothers, but not as much strength.

One day when she was about 19yrs old she came home from a trip to get supplies and found her whole family slaughtered, their necks ripped out and their bodies drained of blood. Up until that night she had thought the stories of vampires to be false.

For the last three and a half years she has hunted those you prey on the weak, those who kill to live, she has become a vampire hunter, one of the feared within the vampire nation, one they would like to see killed.

(I hope this is what you were looking for, if you want anything changed let me know.)

I would be willing to play a female hunter if youre going to accept. I could do with both priest and/or bard class. Are there any races (D&D like) or other rules I have to know?

Alyssa Argus
21 years
5'5
110 lbs., slender frame
Red hair

Alyssa grew up as the child of a well-situated merchant in one of the larger cities of the realm. Together with her twin sister Elara she received a good education in the local monastary and showed much talent in music and fine arts. She has never been the type for fighting though during the last two years she has learned some techniques to defend herself. This was mainly motivated by her twin sister gone missing shortly after their twentieth birthday. To this day Elara's whereabouts remain unknown as well as the circumstances (which can perhaps be incorporated in the story...) Alyssa has sworn to do everything in her power to find Elara.

Bathsheba Darian

I'd be interested in playing as long as you're ok with a male writer writing a female character. I enjoy writing both genders, and have often written women so I think you'll find I'm ok at it. Anyhoo, seeing that our above character is part priestess part bard, I figure you need another healer type to round out the healing end of things.

Name: Bathsheba Darian
Race: Mixed blood - she is actually 1/4 African (or substitute other exotic location if this is not Earth's middle ages) and 3/4 Anglo, giving her an exotic but "acceptable" (i.e. would not be shunned in the time period) coffee-and-cream complexion
Religoin: Outward she is catholic, to herself she holds a mixed folk-magic faith with elements of Yoruba tradition heavily modified by Anglo wise-woman craft
Profession: Innkeep/Owner (This would make a good starting place and could happily be destroyed in the opening scenes)
"Class": Druidess/Shaman type
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 220lb, very "Earth-Mother" figure
Age: 34
Notable Feautres: Although Bathsheba dresses appropriately for the time she lives in she does so in the way she can best show off her figure. Also notable for a woman of that time is that she smokes a pipe.
Background: Bathsheba had always been a wanton child, whose heavy figure was more than made up for by her exotic complexion, beautiful face and wild nature. She was raised alone by her father, owner of the Bell and Bull Inn, which sat on the road half-way between two major towns. Yet though she was by nature chaotic she was also a keen learner and by the age of ten had taken over keeping her father's books. It was just as well that Bathsheba learned the business so well as her father's health deteriorated quickly in her teen years and he died before she turned twenty. As nothing was known of her mother, Bathsheba took over the running of the Inn and with her saucy manner and sensual beauty was soon turning a profit twice that of her father.
Bathsheba showed she had learned other skills too, skills healing and strengthening with potions and poultices. She hid the other magics she had learned, masking the goddess she worshipped as Mary the Madonna, but even this leant her the power to aid others. Yet her wildside never tamed, and there was a steady stream of both men and women who stayed not in the inn's guestrooms but in her bedroom. She gained a dual reputation: on the one hand being a ready friend and skilled healer; on the other being a dangerous slattern who could ruin a marriage in one night. It was probably only her active church attendance and open worship of the Madonna and child (or the Goddess and her creation as she worshipped in her heart) that kept her from facing denouncement or worse. Even so, the fact that for all her visitors she never became pregnant led many to assume this was a curse on her for her wanton behavior.
Bathsheba was not averse to using her skills with herbs and potions to boost her business. Often she spiked her drinks with anything from love philtres to potions that left a person calm and malleable to ensure that people spent as much as possible in her inn. She does not use magic this way as all her magic has a penalty for calling on the Goddess's power.
Secrets Unknown To Her: Her mother was a wise woman who was murdered by a Catholic zealot (if you are running this in the time period of the inquisition, then make it an inquisitor). Bathsheba is sterile and the idea that this is a curse is closer to the truth than she realizes. Infact she kept her father alive with magic fully five years resulting in sterility as payment to the goddess.

Hope this all meets with your approval.

Prissy_Kytten, Daniella22 and BadForm...

Great bios i think they will all be wonderfull characters and all fit into the story rather well...

Badform to answer your question if its cool with the other four players/writers then its cool with me :), if anyone has an issue with Badform playing a female when hes a male then please pm me and we will discuss it in private. I serously doubt anyone will so for all intents and purposes welcome aboard my friend, get ready for a wild ride :) just consider you might have to write your character making out with one of the other writer's characters

Daniella as far as races go..its basically D&D format that is...you can be any humanoid race that is reasonably intelligent, id really reather everyone be humans though..or at least elves (in other words anything that we as human beings would find attractive enough to possibly persue a relationship and/or sexual encounter with) is that cool? I do have one thing i need everyone to think about...

when i role play here on Lit i like to everyone to have one really big strength and one really big weakness, what i mean is, it is obvious taht all of your characters are heroes but i want something to exploit during the course of the story (maybe you are great with hand to hand combat but only if your not being watched...perhaps you are a great horse rider but cant stand hights... its up to you be creative ;) ) get back to me on that...

Ill start writing up the first post soon... and while i do that im making the basic path of your first adventure/hunt.

if anyone has suggestions please pm me (id like suggestions to be surprises for other players :)) and if you need to know anything else just post it here in the OCC.

Ill get back to everyone soon..im not on every night so please be patient ill make it worth your while.

Great stuff guys...thanks again for the turn out.

Oh yeah and everyone...between yourselves you must all decide who is to be the leader. I need to know before the first post but its not a big deal yet...think about it you got plenty of time, yet.

Hey, Gothic. just want to let you know that I have never had any problem writing a woman having sex with any adult humanoid partner in any way. I have designed a HIGHLY sexualized character and will be playing her as such (it even figures into the weaknesses I've outlined below). That said, I have encountered either one or two writers who stated they could not write a scene with my character as female knowing I'm male. Personally, I never understood it since this is fiction, but each to their own. Now, onto weaknesses. I've touched on each in the bio.

Major weakness: Penalized for calling on Mary/the Goddess to aid her. As part of the balance of things, the Goddess always takes when answering a call for aid. I've actually rp'ed this in a thread before. One example was that in order to escape an underwater cave my character had to swim through a channel, dragging the person she was saving, for a distance few if any humans could swim on one lungful of air without that weight. She was granted her request but faced the penalty of being nibbled on by carnivorous fish throughout the swim. This was not enough to kill or maim her, but bloodloss and illness left her useless for some time. This was my idea, not the thread originators, and while I would appreciate you clearing any maiming or death for my character I have happily played characters TO their death. Penalties should generally relate to the aid granted. Thus, in her bio, she gave her father 5 years of life and now is barren and cannot give life to a baby. While I should know the penalty for roleplay's sake, she probably will not.

Moderate weakness: Slattern/Sex-cravings. To say she is lustful would be an understatement. This should work well in a srpg, but has its consequences. She will often miss signs of danger if she's feeling particularly horny or fascinated by a particular man or woman. There is a possibility that she could develop (or even currently be carrying) an std. Such illnesses would not necessarily be curable if the Goddess took her having one as payment for answering a call for help. Note that she cannot become pregnant (which in her thirties is a source of pain) owing to the Goddess's penalty for having kept her father alive so long.

Moderate or Minor Weakness (whichever you prefer): Secrets and lies. Given that her true faith is forbidden in the nation (until you mentioned elves, I'd largely assumed you meant middle-ages Europe and thus went with a mixed Pagan hybrid... feel free to substitute as necessary), she is forced to mask it under a charade of being a devout Catholic. In itself this is a minor weakness, but if you want to make it more someone could have overheard her say something that indicated she wasn't Catholic, thus opening her up to potential blackmail, coersion and so forth. If backed into a corner she may even be forced to murder the person out of terror, which would cause all kinds of psychological havoc for her. Finally, depending on which part of the middle-ages you want to use as your backdrop, you could even be truly brutal and have her name have come to the attention of one or more witchfinders/inquisitors. Witchfinders on one side, vampires on the other... talk about your rock and hard place. Oh, one thing I don't want to see is that a crucifix in her hand would not work - it is still representative of a faith that she has absolute belief in, albeit a Catholic substitution for a goddess symbol to her. Thus it has the belief and the shape, whichever aspect you are playing with.

Minor Weakness: Take me or leave me. I've very seldom seen a rp here that would make this more than a minor weakness, but even with her understanding of the need for secrecy etc Bathsheba is largely unconcerned with whether people actually like her or not. She has a ready wit, is a staunch supporter of friends, and has the wild and saucy nature that can put a "zing in your thing". At least, that's what the majority of people think of her as she tends to be pleasing to folks. On the other hand, to a significant minority that is seen as being frivolous and silly, a bull-headed and interfering loudmouth, and an annoying slut. In short, you either love her (most people) or hate her (a significant minority) with hardly anyone falling in the middle and just getting on with her. Also, her attitude of "I am who I am, and if you don't like it that's your problem" makes her totally unlikely to be accepted by elite/"polite" society. She is, and always will be, a commoner albeit a relatively wealthy one as long as the inn stands.

As for Jassik, it's easy to see that his weakness tends to be his lack of knowledge of the world, the real world. He never get out of the tower for years. He kinda rarely met other people than the usual delivery boys and girls that brought something to eat to the Mage and some of his master's collegues. His light constitution is also a disadvantage.

Alyssa - more thoughts and weaknesses

I was thinking of Alyssa as a half-elf, her merchant father being human and meeting her elf mother on one of his earlier merchant journeys. In D&D this would give her slightly elf-like features but a perfectly humanoid body with a slender frame. Maybe even a few of the elven traits like reduced need to sleep or rest. If everyone is ok with that I'd like to play her that way. Her elven blood would also supplement her artistic nature and affection for music and poetry. Please speak out or PM if there are objections.

As to her weaknesses: The mentioned light build would make her a physically weak character with an at best mediocre constitution (this doesn't mean that she has low stamina but she won't take much in combat). During her childhood and teenage years she has never been trained in fighting and combat skills. In fact she never took up a sword before her twin sister disappeared two years ago. After that she received some training by the local captain of the guard (a friend of her father's) to get to know some simple forms of self defense.

Her education in the monastery acquainted her with clerical spells which are for the most part healing spells. She also knows blessings and charms against unholy creatures, however. She can use her musical talent to inspire the group in combat or to raise morale but also for simple entertainment.

Alyssa was always the quieter and more solitary of the twins, while Elara was more lively, outspoken and never missing an opportunity to socialise. Since her sister's disappearance Alyssa became even quieter and more melancholic. She has the feeling that the happy counterpart of her very self has been ripped from her chest. This however nutures another feeling deep inside of her. The urge to get her sister back, to find her and to reveal the circumstances of the disappearance. When this feeling breaks through to the surface Alyssa can develop a determination and resoluteness few would ever expect from her.

Since Angelica is a warrior her weakness well not be her strength nore her fighting style, I think it should be her lost love.

When she was twenty she fell in love with a man named Jasper, he was taken by the vampires and never seen again.

(I thought as some point my character may have to fight him in battle since it would be a weakness to kill the one she loved perhaps it could be an opening one of the other characters to possibly save her and win her gradiatude and trust.)

Oh her other weakness is horses she does not ride, since she fears the beast, having once been stomped by one as a child.

OK, I have to stop thinking like a scheming GM. I keep plotting each of our demises: Me getting captured by the inquisition and tortured to death, Prissy_Kytten succumbing to her old love who is now a vampire, A_Man_For_You being pressganged or poisoned due to his lack of world knowledge making it impossible to spot a ploy, Daniela22 being beaten by a better warrior... and that's just a few of my thoughts. You know, if Gothic Shujin is anything like the bastard I can be the we could be fucked... and not in a good way. ;)

*laughs* I can see that, I can't wait to see what he comes up with. As for you, your ideas are always good perhaps he well take a few of them.

This is just an update on the status or relative LACK of status for when the game is gonna start.

Ill prolly be able to post what ive written tonight. Since i didnt have a problem with any of your weaknesses. They are all great :) but to be honest a bit vague i was kinda looking for specific things...like perhaps phobias (not that none of you did that im just saying ;) ), short comings and dissabilities. But like i said i liked what all of you came up with. Several of you are weaker characters...sorta... and the rest of you have ample room for me to come up with situations that exploit your deficiencies :) . Thanks for that.

Im eager to see how everyone will interact.

If all goes well we should all be playing (at our own pace) by late tonight/early tommorrow...

However i do need two more things;

First you guys have seemed to glaze over that we need a leader for this rag tag bunch ;) and...
Secondly since im starting you all together (its easier for me id like to get things moving without having everyone to meet one another) Id really like it if you all had your intro posts ready for later... so when i post the prologue wich will not have any of you in it... you can all write how you found each other... from the eyes of your own character.

To make things easy just have your characters end up in a town called "Bywater". He/she having read a sign about a local vampire infestation and taking the notice to the local church... where applicants are supposed to report. Your second posts will take place about a week after your first and you will all know each other by then.

If any of this is confusing please let me know and ill break it down...basically this is what i mean.

-your gonna write a intro post that is who you char. is and how you ended up in bywater and in the church.
-the last person posts his intro and ill conclude it. Tagging off the story.
-on your second post wich will basically be after my second post (chapter 1) you will write as if youve known each other for a week.
-post go on as normal from there.

Got a few things to do today. I dont have any questions right now :) i think you will all have fun, gimme some time, well be playing soon. I dont alway have time to post every day :(

Pm me if you guys need anything.

thanx again i cant wait to get going with this.

I vote Badform as our leader not only a great writer but would increase the value of the posts and plot, anyone disagree???

Umm... me? Can I disagree...

Honestly, I am highly flattered, but I'm not up to leading such a mass player thread atm. Between helping run a small business, running and participating in othe threads (many of which are one-on-one), and other things I have enough on to make me want to relax and have fun as one-of-the-bunch here. Thank you though.

Always modest, to bad I thought you would be great but alas we are still leaderless *sighs*
Anyone else feel up to the job???

In this case I suggest either AriesWolf or prissy_kitten, whoever wants to do it. A warrior as group leader just seems right plus a_man_for_you and I are both relatively inexperienced and also play less dominant characters.

I agree - given that we aren't talking someone directing the thread (as far as I can understand it), we need one of the characters who is most fit for a leadership role. With two characters who are not worldly, my character being too independent for leadership (even if I had the mental energy for it), it would make sense to hand off to one of the warriors. I know in the thread Prissy_Kytten and I are writing she has proven as able as I in coming up with potential plot aspects etc and of doing good characterisation and interrelationship work, I'd suggest Kytten's character. That's not meant as any offense to anyone else, simply that she has a logical character for leadership and I have seen she is capable.

Anyone that can play an Alpha wolf type character withen this "pack" will due. The character should most likely be fair, intelligent and decisive. He/she need not be an experienced hunter since this group of vampire bountymen/women was only recently put to gether so if everyone is a novice...that will suit the story just fine.

Normally i dont care for leader characters in a story, every character should be a part of the team, no one man/woman greater than another, but for what i have in mind its actually rather required. Its not to say that this person is like "the shit" or anything. I just need someone everyone else turns to when its time for the final "decision" and when drawing straws just aint cutting it :)

Your characters involvement in affecting the plot will be limited to your character interaction and decision making. So dont worry about that too much, after all im assuming you are all good writers and if not well... just give it an effort and im sure we will all have fun.

Just think of this as if we were sitting around a table role playing D&D or Vampire the masquerade or some shit like that. Rich backstories would be nice though... the more info you gimme the better...

Anyway once again i gotta go. I got held up at work yesterday so i didnt get to post. heres to today. As always you can pm me if you wanna keep something secret. Ill post more tonight...

I could balance out my character and take the lead if anyone wants me too. It's not a role I am unfamiliar with. I can play the sarcastic but caring leader if at all wanted or needed.
