The year was 2305, about 300 years since humanty has left orbit of their dying planet earth..through large colony ships they settled various planets within the system..and by chance meet a race of friendly alien life. Know as the "kar-teel" Humanoid in shape but more slender and tall, skin a tan color with long tendrils upon their head like dreadlocks. Their face was more sharper but still humanoid feature. Tusk like fangs pointing out the lower lip, dark black almond shaped eyes and pointed ears. A race of military traditions, the Kar-teel are know, for both males females, a race of both honor and duty. A bit humorless and serious minded, but they proved to be a stalwart ally to humans.

Five years had passed since the 300 year anniversary from human's departure from earth..that's when a shocking anomaly had accorded. For no reason, out of nowhere, human colonies grew silent..when Kar-teel scouts were sent to check up on their ally, they found them all to be abandoned, countless dead upon the ground. theories from a lethal virus to a flash of a supernova from the nearby colonies sun had arose, but nothing was fully confirmed. All that was know was humanity had disappeared to extinction..or so the Kar-teel and their other allies thought.

Nil'thon, a security officer upon X-teari station 8, a sort of alien united nations where the Kar-teel and their allies met was awaking from his quarters, preparing for another routine day of work. As Nil'thon was finishing getting ready, He got a call from his Superior "Centurion Nil'thon! report to the hanger double time, no delays!" Nil'thon's first reaction was that he was late for something, but the tone sounded more surprised thent angry. Nil'thon jogged to the hanger where a collection of his comrades were gathered around a radio receiver, he was going to ask what was going on, but he didn't need to, there was a transmission from a nearby planet thought abandoned, the encryption was Human military of all things..

The transmission was from a nearby planet, and it was military encrypted. The signal was coming from an old radio, tied to a signal tower with old bits of rope, set to continually tap out an S.O.S. so long as it was on. This tower was on the roof of a small military facility, used mainly for recruiting new soldiers. It only housed one being now. The last human...

Jo Richards, currently 24 years of age, opened her eyes to the new day. Sunlight filtered in through yellowing newspaper taped over the windows, a small effort to keep prying eyes out, now kept up out of habit. The threadbare blanket was pushed off of her form as she sat up in her cot, surveying the small room. She was actually in a locked office, devoid of any of the previous furniture, burned as firewood long ago. Her cot and a lone chair was all that remained, her pack and spear set against the latter. Carefully, trying to make as little noise as possible, she climbed out and retrieved her hunting knife, using the sharp blade to scratch another tally mark on the wall.

Today was food day, if her counting was correct. It meant having to venture out of safety and look for her various traps, to see what she had caught. A check of a fresh injury on her leg made her sigh with relief; it clotted overnight, and didn't look infected. The tie to her makeshift bandage still held, but the blood stains had to be washed out soon. Another scratch like that, and she'd have to find herself a new pair of pants, now that she thought of it... A protesting rumble of her stomach brought her back to her current task. Pack slung over her shoulder and weapons on hand, she left her temporary house.

A trap had been sprung near the edge of a clearing, with nothing but the remains of the trapped leg to show for it. The next two she checked had worked, but only to capture smaller creatures. Deciding that those could be gathered on her way back, she pressed onward. Something she hadn't noticed the last time she was out in the wild lay in her path: sturdy looking boxes, with stamps from the army plastered on the sides. She ventured forward to them, breaking through the weakened locks with well placed taps from her trusted hammer. The first held guns, but no ammunition. The second held some essentials-- clothing, canned goods, flashlights and batteries, the works. That left the third, which leaked slightly after being shifted. That was almost always a good sign...

The lid fell open, and her head tilted back with a laugh. Thank the fucking Lord for small miracles, she thought to herself. Vodka! While not as healthy as water, it had plenty of other uses, such as assisting with fires, or makeshift first aid. The first bottle was grabbed and opened, a few considerable swallows taken before she positioned her leg. The cloth bandage was pulled aside, and sterilized before she talked herself out of it, making her hiss from the sudden sting. Once that was done, it was closed tightly and placed in her pack, soon joined by a second. Canned fruits and veggies were next, with a thick jacket that was much too big for her slung over her shoulders soon following.

A hiss from the trees made her freeze, and start eyeing up her spear. While it was good for a fight, survival was first and foremost, as Jack would say. She got enough food to last her a few days, maybe even longer if she rationed it carefully, and was set for first aid and warmth. Not wanting to press her luck any further, she grabbed her spear and made a run for it, her predator soon giving chase.

Nil'thon stared in disbelief at what the radio operator found..human transmission still operating? Humans were so prideful of their tech, but it seems that something held out. "Nil'thon, thats within this sector..it's on a dead world though..Karipit..you being the most qualified here Centurion.." Nil'thon snapped back at his officer "..You do know if it's a dead world, whatever military presence was on there is most likely dead and gone for years..hell local wildlife got to them before any enemy had."

"Still, if there is a signal operating, someones been maintaining it. Nil'thon, if there is a remote chance there is someone still alive there.." Nil'thon paused and gives a nod "..I know..I remember the oath I swore when I took up the warrior's weapon. If their is a ally of the Kar-teel in need, it's my duty to respond." with that he pushed all doubt from his mind on how stupid a idea this was as he went to his scout fighter, though a bit more bulky then a sleek jet fighter that earth would have, it was meant for per-longed engagements, able to act as a makeshift small freighter and transport. As it broke away from the X-teari station 8, Nil'thon set a course for Karipit, taking a moment to ready himself to see corpses or his own battle with the legendary violent and hostile wildlife.

Oblivious to the approach of a visitor, Jo crashed her way through the foliage and past large trees. It was just her luck that her frantic running had drawn more attention to herself. Three large Kruzlits, oversized cats with dark fur, rows of jagged fangs, and stingers on the tips of their tails, were hunting her down, and she found herself having to push just fast enough to make it to her closest trap. She jumped over a fallen tree, then pressed herself close to it; as she expected, their large bounds soared their powerful bodies well overhead-- and in range of her traps. Massive steel teeth snapped up, catching two Kruzlits at once, and amidst the loud shrieks that rent the air, Jo was on the move again.

She bobbed and weaved, using her smaller and more agile form to her advantage. But soon, she was going to have to reach the clearing between forest and safety in one of her enforced homes. Mustering her energy, she took the chance, heading for her current residence as fast as her legs could carry her. The lone Kruzlit soon picked up the pace, claws getting closer and closer...

Fifteen feet stood between her and safety when a massive paw swiped at her legs, knocking her off balance and gouging into her skin. She landed with a hard oomph!, finding herself pinned on her back in the next instant. The stinger tail rose overhead, a drop of paralytic poison formed at the tip. Jo's eyes widened in fear, before she raised her spear and stabbed it hard into an eye. It shrieked in pain, tearing away from the weapon while the tail curled reflexively into itself. She took the chance given to her, scrambling to her feet and making it inside. The large metal door was slammed behind her, and the metal latch pulled into place.

Sinking against the door in relief, her harsh pants filled the room while a dull pain fixed in her leg. She looked down to the blood soaked limb, then wished she hadn't when the pain increased tenfold. A roar was all the warning she had when the door bent underneath her, under the force of the Kruzlit charging the barrier. With help from her spear, she hobbled her way back to her room, closing and locking the door, and reinforcing it with her cot and chair. Once that was finished, she sank down into the far corner, her prized pack of items behind her and spear butt jammed into the wall. There, she waited.

There, she prayed.

Nil'thon's own ship had broke orbit about the time she made her way into the makeshift bunker Jo's lived in for so long, Nil'thon following the signal to it's source, switching to hover, he scanned over the ground, seeing the Kruzlit surround the door. Kruzlits were not scavengers by any sort, and the forests were populated enough to feed the ecosystem..so someone actually might be trapped..soon the craft came down land on a clearing, Nil'thon as he left the craft taking a long pike weapon..so many prefer the ranged weaponry, he was trained in the traditional Kar-teel combat style of melee combat. Soon his thick boots were on the ground, weapon ready and armed he approached.

The Kruzlit had already smelt him as they were turning to meet that coal black gaze from the tan being almond colored eyes, Nil'thon taking a defensive stance he moved to meet the beasts. Pouncing, claws aiming to tackle the target, Nil'thon moved with focus, rolling with the beast's momentum, first the pike lifted to block the strike and crash against the creatures immense weight and with a shift of his heavy boots the tall, altheltic alien shifted to the side to provide a painful swat to the side, not meant to cause no damage. Even though killers, the Kruzlit was protected from being hunted, so his goal was to discourage the beast's chase. In response that stinger snapped out to try and plung into the chest of Nil'thon, and it was close to doing so, his dodge just caring him out of range of the spike tip, and while using the long pike to his advantage he when he had a distance gave a second solid swat to the muzzle of the feline like Kruzlit

Another painful swat was enough to cause the beast to get fustrated with this prey..deciding it would be easier to track the local Tharkrats, the beast finally ran off to find something not as capable of fighting back. Nil'thon walked slowly to the door as he gave it a few pounds speaking through it in Kel-Teer "Greetings,I am Nil'thon, centurion of the Kar-teel securty of X-teari station 8, of is someone actually alive?" after a few moments he tried in earth English though it was very broken "Greeting. human alive here? I Nil'thon, Kal-teer. Freindly.."

The beast's banging on a metal door was loud; the drone of an approaching ship was louder. Jo looked towards the direction of the ship's engine, almost in disbelief. Was someone actually coming to find her, finally? No, it couldn't be... it was probably a governmental ship, doing a cleansing of this planet to keep whatever killed the rest of them contained. But at least it distracted the Kruzlit from trying to get to her.

Using the moment to her advantage, she snatched the crumpled blanket to her, tearing a strip off and preparing to bind her other leg. The claws went deep, but it didn't appear to hit anything vital. Another splash of vodka, paired with a swig for good measure, and the makeshift bandage was added. Her spear was used to help her upright and moving, now with a new focus in mind: see who came to the planet.

The blockage from her door was cleared before she heard it, a few pounds on the door, coupled with a voice. Finally, a friendly voice! It was Kar-Teel, that she recognized. Having not heard the language for so long made her translating a little slow, but whoever it was thankfully repeated himself in broken English. "I'm here," she tried to say, her voice soft and hoarse from little use. Now desperate, she hobbled quickly to the door, wrenching on the lever with all of her might. A charge from the Kruzlit had bent it out of shape... she needed help...

The chair! Racing back to grab it, she used that to bang on the lever repeatedly, forcing it out of the way with rhythmic screeches of metal. Finally, it was out of the way, and she threw the chair aside to open the door, and see the first person in five years. So overcome with hope and gratefulness, tears sprang to Jo's eyes right there, as she leaned heavily against the door frame.

Towering over her by a foot or so was the tan skinned Kar-teel, dark eyes looking down tusked mouth opened a moment in disbelief before there was a soft smile..he was breathing heavy from the encounter with the beast as he took a moment to take in the human before him "I..can't believe it.." he spoke to himself in Kar-teel "How long you out here?" he asked again in that broken English noting her wounded leg "Safe now..rest a moment..have medicine..' points back to the large ship that was landed a few feet away from the tower.

Nil'thon could not help but briefly stare at the woman..thought it was uncommon pairings between humans and Kar-Teel happened, and being in a military base with no women for almost a year, the young human was looking like a goddess to him, his heartbeat quickened a moment before the thought was pushed from his mind. "I Nil'thon, Name?" he softly asked pointing to himself in his broken English as he talked with her..his weapon was slowly lowered on the nearby wall to show he was not going to use it.

Her head craned up to look at her savior, taking in his disbelief and soft smile with her own matching looks. He couldn't believe it; well, neither could she! Of all the races to find her, a Kar-Teel was always an option to hope for. After so long it was deemed too good to he true, and simply abandoned with all other hope. Keeping the signal alive was just another day to her, being a few days away from it, in fact. When it hit her she could understand him after all, a strangled laugh burst free. She wasn't entirely lost after all!

"I... I don't know," she answered in English, her voice still soft. Damn, but did she need something to drink! He prompted her to rest, saying he had medicine on his ship. Though she wanted nothing more than that, to rest while knowing she was truly safe again, Jo couldn't allow herself to do that now. If she sat to rest, she wouldn't be able to force herself back up again. Readjusting her hold on the spear and doorway, she shook her head. "No... I can't," she replied, strength returning to her voice.

His lowering of his own weapon threatened her willpower, however. It would be so easy just to collapse, to be carried to safety in arms she could trust once again. The last time was when she was young... a very long time ago... Her body wavered from the strength of the memory, but was forced still again. She cleared her throat, licking her dry lips, and attempted his native language. Jo had to force her tongue to work around certain syllables, but she managed to say, "Hello, Nil'thon. I am named Jo."

She took a deep, steadying breath before continuing. "Tell me, please, what is this year?"

There was a momentary smile as she seemed to remember his native tongue, though a bit rough on the human throat she pronounced well enough to speak to him clearly. Gives a nod "Hello Jo..and it's 2305.." he respond he was going to try and lay down the fact that she was the last human in the universe later when it was easier to do so. Right now needed to focus on getting her safe and secure back on the station.

After a moment he spoke again "Look..it's not safe here..the station X-teari 8 is in orbit just a few light speed jumps away..from there we can..well heal you up.." pauses watching her a moment as he paused "Though seriously..you do look in need of medical attetion and proper food..why can't you let me assist you?."

2305... it was that long?! Her grip tightened on the frame, forcing herself not to break down, not yet. She could do that all she wanted to when she was safe, but not here, not like this. Like Jack, her mentor and friend, had told her many times: if you stop to look around, you'll be stuck there for good. Always forward motion.

Medical attention, real food... everything sounded so nice, and much better than a cold can of green beans. Though he sounded confused, asking why Jo wouldn't let him help her. "No... I will let you, allow you to help," she spoke. She struggled to find the words, to explain properly to Nil'thon what she was thinking. But five years... such a long amount of time to live in fear, not knowing if she was going to be overtaken by the wildlife, or if she was going to starve or freeze to death... or even worse... The sheer weight of all of that was astounding to her now!

No, Jo... always forward motion.

"I fear... if I sit... I won't stand." Pressing a hand to her chest, she added, "I am tired, in here."

The Kar-teel were a more literal race, her comment making him tilt his head a moment as he processed..but after a moment he took in what she ment "You require to go slow..understand..one point at a time.." he spoke he knowing when she finds out that she is the last of her race it would..well he could not imagine such a horrific revelation.

He takes a moment to flick open a PDA of sorts typing in a few codes, he called for a automated droid from his ship to bring over a few crates of supplies to the bunker..he was going to move at the pace she needed so to better have her grow accustom to what as going on...as a Kar-teel he had swore a oath when he took up the pike to protect and aid his ally, and she being the last of the humans the Kar-teel aligned with, he was bound to this oath to protect her.

She nodded as he figured what she was telling him. Slow was great... she could handle slow. So long as it got her off the planet and back into civilization, she'd be perfectly okay with it. Jo watched in silence as Nil'thon pulled something out and typed into it, calling a droid from the ship and over to them. "Medical supplies," she repeated aloud, thinking about the alcohol in her pack once again. While it wasn't entirely healthy to use, it did a good job in keeping away bacteria after soap and healing ointments ran dry.

An errant thought crossed her head at the mentioning of soap: she must look absolutely horrendous right now! When the only way to clean themselves was sand and stream water, one couldn't complain, because looks weren't really all that important anymore. Jo held her jacket closer, wanting to cover up as much of her body as possible.

"Where is your base, again? X-teari..." she asked, breaking the silence between them.

As the droid approached it had held out a collection of what looked like a equivalent of anti-septic and bandages for the Kar-teel, a jar of what looked like smooth blue paste and..well cloth bandage. It's such a simple thing why improve on it? Well for first aid anyway..it was the paste that did the work. "X-teri 8 is out in orbit of the moon of Persis, that being just a few light years away..when we do get going it'll..be about a thirty minute flight at the most." He responded.

Long dexterous hand gently reached out to lift her leg up to a nearby crate to allow him to work on her leg, first removing the makeshift cloth bandage and taking a moment to use the smooth blue paste..there was a warmth as it seeped into the wound and began to do it's repairs..as he began to wrap it up as he looked for other wounds he spoke "Should be all healed by the time we get back.."

As she saw her shift in that self conscious motion he spoke up. "You will be of course also given clean clothing and a chance to shower on the way over..ship I have is meant for long travel..though it's a short flight, give you time to use it"

Listening with rapt attention, Jo felt herself breathing a little more easier as he explained the length of flight. Only about half an hour longer, and she wouldn't be alone anymore. She also idly wondered how many people were at the station, human and alien alike. It had to be expansive, given the kind of supplies that were carted out.

Jo shifted against the door frame, allowing Nil'thon a greater ease in treating her leg. The Kruzlit's claws did a great number on her pants as well as her leg, a great hole showing in the knee. Though they were loose when she had first found them years ago, her lack of sufficient food made them baggier with time. It didn't surprise her at all when his long, nimble fingers were able to slip inside while wrapping the bandage.

The other fresh wound would be a bit more difficult to consider. It was on the outside of her leg, yes, but higher up on her thigh. If not impossible in reach, there was still boundaries to consider, and what theirs would be. A flash of an image intruded in her thoughts then, of long tanned fingers sliding in her pants, across her skin and pressing upwards, towards--

Blinking hard, the thought was pushed aside. She spent all this time alone, and was now finally being rescued. It wasn't the time to start fantasizing about her savior! To break the silence, she said, "This was... a trap. I nearly finished it... when it shot me instead." Luckily, she had one or two calculations off, or else it would have been a lot worse than it was right now. But treating it... "How do you want to... that is, should I..." she stammered, unsure of what to do.

Half an hour was more than enough time for her to be clean and dressed enough to be presentable, but she nodded her gratitude all the same. "Thank you. It may have been too long... you might have to show me how to use one again," she joked.

Nil'thon paused a moment as he examined the second wound and how close it was to such boundaries. He gives a moment to pause "Well..what normally would have happened..as all of use are trained in first aid, was to call on a female to do such a thing..but seeing I can't and..I'd rather take care of it now instead of wait until we make it to the station.." he gives a pause and a breath "I..appolgize ahead of time if I accidentally brush up too close towards..sensitive areas." With slow and careful actions he began to start wrapping the second wound, very slowly and carefully, his action like that to show he was not going to make a pass at such areas..on purpose that is..

He was very observant and how he started was he looped the bandage along her inner leg under the knee and gently slid it up to where it needed to go, after slathering the healing solution on the bandage itself after making sure it would go over the wound he slowly began to tie it..he was successful for the most part on at least doing so without his fingers brushing towards such areas..but still on his tan cheeks there was a very light blush, clear the moment was awkward for the normally stoic Kar-teel "All set.."

He slowly and gently lowering the woman's leg, he standing up again. "Well..really it's not unlike most..just turn the nob, prepare the water as you like and be sure to be nude for the best cleaning effect.." pausing a moment "Oh..you meant that as a joke.." he laughed genuinely, more at his own inabitly not to get it quick enough. After a moment he spoke up "Any personal effects you have here that you wish to take along before we get on our way? Or any last things you wish to do?"

It wasn't as embarrassing for Jo as it seemed to be for Nil'thon, but it was getting close. She kept her eyes away from his work, not wanting to make things more awkward between them by watching his every move. He still took gentle and sure care of her leg, making sure the warming antiseptic was on her wound before securing the bandage. She relaxed as he declared her set to travel, setting her leg back down.

Thankfully, the tension between them was eased by her joking. She was pleased to hear him laugh, though it took him a few moments to understand her. It warmed her further to her rescuer, seeing his diplomatic side lax momentarily. When asked if there was something personal she wanted to grab before they left, she suddenly remembered the pack, left behind in her room. "Ah, yes! Just... wait a minute."

Walking around was starting to get easier, less painful. Jo stopped just shy of grabbing the rope strap, her eye catching on the ever growing amount of tally marks on the walls around her. Every twenty days or so, she went to a different location in the military base, so they weren't as numerous. But she couldn't help but see it that way, envision how many more would be on the walls in another five, or ten, or more years. Her hand clenched in a fist, before her pack was slung up onto her shoulder.

"I'm ready," she announced, seeing Nil'thon again. She followed him out to the aircraft, stepping onto the metal ramp with her staff an occasional echo. Jo didn't-- couldn't-- look back. This was her future now.

Nil'thon walked with her, keeping close behind weapon in his arm as he stood by her close like a body gaurd, keeping behind just in case a sudden pounce form a bold beast would come after them..at least he'd be the one to take the hit..soon the ramp closed and sealed. Though it was a bit on the cramped side, for two people it was cozy enough. He took a moment to pull out a spare uniform he had, he looking to Jo "These are form fitting, it will adjust to your body size..." he spoke noting his own, though most areas had a set of light plating to cover and protect vitals, the suit was like tight fitting jumpsuit.

Taking a moment to fold it to a place nearby he showed her the ships built in shower stall..though very cold and military like, it did it's service. After a moment of antiquating her with the controls he spoke "going to take the ship controls and fly back to the station.." with that he was on his way, giving the woman space and privacy as he started flicking switches and bringing the ship up from the harsh planet and into orbit.

As time went on he reported in "X-teri 8, this centurion Nil'thon, she is secured and safe, going to be heading back to X-teri, ETA after we break atmosphere, roughly..." does some math in his head "30 minutes, give or take." after a moment the command responded "Centurion, Red home had contacted us after we reported the message, if there was a survivor that was human found, your to bring her there for safe keeping." pausing a moment looking back warily to the shower "..well..we have enough supplies..alright, I'll set a course for Red home.."

The doors were shut behind her, luckily without any incident. The ship they were in looked a decent enough size for transport, she noticed, and had to have been stocked as such. Sure, it was going to take them a short amount of time to get to the base, but given her luck, who knows what else could happen. The suit was shown to her and stored, and her own items were set nearby for now. As he told her they were going to start flying off, giving her the privacy needed to shower, she spoke a soft "Thank you."

Alone again she was... no, not alone, not truly. But the silence under the drone of the ship's engine started to press in, inch by excruciating inch. Her shirt was removed, folded, and set inside her pack, further cushioning the bottles inside. Her now-too-large bra shortly joined, after being unknotted from behind her back. Her pants and jacket were a different matter, being too large or too damaged to keep. Deciding she'd sort that out later, she stepped into the shower stall.

While she wanted to stay under the warm spray, cleaning the leftover grime from her body, while taking care to not make her bandages too wet. Her hair was scrubbed twice, rinsed thoroughly and wrung out as the water was shut off. She reached for a towel, patting her wet skin dry before stepping into the suit. As she was told, it shrunk and fit to her trim body, keeping the warmth from her shower contained. Identical boots were slipped on, fitting to her the same way as she approached Nil'thon again. He was seated by the controls, looking out into the galaxy before them. Her hair hung down her back, still wet from the shower and slowly dripping water.

"Hi," she greeted.

Nil'thon was looking over the cords as he then looked up noticing her, smiling softly..the girl had a lovely glow to her just out of the shower with all those years of built up dirt and sweat had been removed. He silently looked to her, she looking far more fresh faced now, that tight fitting suit though made to be modest so nothing hung out, the military man could not help but allow his eyes give a breif scan "I see we are feeling a lot better.." he spoke as he made a bit of conversation before he layid on the news

"..Jo, we are going to have to take a detour..the half hour trip is going to be about..a few weeks. I have been ordered to take you back to Red home, more deeper into friendly space.." he spoke softly as he then had a momentary paused before he continued "It is to keep you safe..I do assure you that we have more then enough fuel and supplies to make the trip..it's just going to be you and me for a bit more then thirty minutes.." he spoke softly in a reassuring voice.

"I am feeling better, thank you," she replied. He was sitting at ease in front of the controls, like he had belonged there, she couldn't help but notice. The uniform she was in looked slightly different from his, a bit more protective padding on her back and front as it also seemed to adjust to her species and the vital points. She couldn't complain, though. It was all being done to keep her safe.

As Nil'thon told her about a detour, making sure to be as reassuring as possible, her brow rose as he paused. The 30 minutes was now a few weeks, and she'd be going to Red Home instead? While she had heard of it before, Jo now had to wonder what the big deal was... maybe it was because she survived for so long, thwarting off a mysterious disease that took the population number down to just her? "I think... so long as you stay with me, I'll be fine," she finally answered. "I just don't want to be left alone."

That, and there'd most likely be a greater chance of more humans at the Red Home base. She found a seat nearby and took it, finding that her legs were protesting the motion even less than before. "I hope you don't mind that I stay in here with you," she stated, not wanting to be in his way for the sake of company.

"I have to ask... how many humans are at Red Home? Any dignitaries I'll have to meet as soon as we land?"

Nil'thon gives a respond with a silent nod "Alright..and as my sworn duty as a solder i am not leaving your side..' he spoke softly as he saw her settle down next to him "I promise you that..it'll be my death before I leave your side.." he spoke and such a claim was not lightly made when a Kar-teel promised it. As he listened to her next question..he took a breath "Normally their was a large population but..' he spoke as he looked to her "..there is somthing that I need to tell you..during the last five years during your time upon Karipit.."

There was a long dealy "..humanty had..began to die off..we..still do not know what had happened..but from colony to colony, the human race disappered or was found dead..from sickness..' he spoke looking to her "It..is very likely that you are amongst a handful left..and your the first we have found alive..we are taking you to Red home for your protection..and with you still alive..and how..wide spread the sickness was..even to this side of the galaxy..as we have found it effect some wildlife on Karipit but..you untouched.." he breathed "You could be very well immune.."

After a moment he reveled this information..he looked to the woman..and in a strange action for the normally straight forward and professional Kar-teel, he opened his arms to offer the woman a comforting hug he repeating the words "I will die..before anything happens to you..this is my oath.."

"Thank you," she spoke again. Jo could already tell she was going to enjoy her trip with Nil'thon, no matter how long her trip was. And it wasn't just because of her having contact with people for so long. He was friendly, honorable, and as a Kar-teel, understanding and openly honest. When he swore that only death would part him from her side, she believed it. It was a scary thought to envision so soon, but comforting all the same.

"Normally their was a large population but..there is somthing that I need to tell you..during the last five years during your time upon Karipit....humanty had..began to die off.."

Jo couldn't process this at first. "... what...?" she murmured, feeling something start to sink in her chest.

"We..still do not know what had happened..but from colony to colony, the human race disappered or was found dead..from sickness. It..is very likely that you are amongst a handful left..and your the first we have found alive..we are taking you to Red home for your protection..and with you still alive..and how..wide spread the sickness was..even to this side of the galaxy..as we have found it effect some wildlife on Karipit but..you untouched.." he breathed "You could be very well immune.."

She simply sat there in shock. The illness that had claimed the planet she lived in for so long had spread to other colonies? Even this far out? People dying from it, she could understand. But ultimately disappearing seemed almost offensive to her. Why couldn't they stay and fight, or try to help at the very least? Or even get word out to Kar-teels? And if she was truly the last person alive... and immune to whatever the virus was...

Horrible visions of tests being done to her as she lay prone in a cold operating room filled her mind, only to be blurred by tears. If that's all that was in her future, to go from survivor to lab rat, she almost wished she would die instead. Nil'thon opened his arms to her; she leaned in and entered his embrace, needed some sort of contact right then. Her body shook as she worked to fight her sobs back, pressing her body as close to his as possible, as if they could become one if she tried hard enough. The steady beating of his heart in her ear helped soothe, as well as the longer arms that encircled her body.

After a few minutes of this, she loosened her hold enough to wipe at the tears that had fallen. "I'm sorry, Nil'thon," she stated, tilting her head down to keep him from seeing her in such a state.

Just held her, he felt that fear and weight just pile onto her as he held the woman tightly he hugging her close as he could not know what possible went through her head.."We are moving you to red home for your protection.." he spoke softly it "And even if fate chooses we do not make it and have to detour..I am here to protect you as a sworn ally.." he spoke..only reciting his devotion to his work seemed to be what soothed the girls mind..

he did not know how else to comfort her but holding that hug around the smaller framed woman..looking down to her..the little human looked so delicate..there was a pause and then he hugged her tighter..what flashed through his mind was the thousands of men within the galaxy who would pay top dollar to keep the woman as some trophy for their collect, or rare thing to exploit..

"It will be a month trip..just you and me..towards Red Home..I will keep you safe..as we travel and when we get there.." he spoke softly..really yes he was repeating himself but he was unsure what to say other then that.

Though he didn't think it, his repeated oath to protect her no matter what was helping calm her down as well. The tightened embrace took her by surprise, but was no less welcome. She curled more into his embrace in fact, allowing the comfort and protection he offered her. She just knew she was going to be safe with him, and was glad he found her, and not someone else.

Pulling back to directly face him, she cupped a small hand just under his jaw, a friendly affectionate move that ensured a meeting of their eyes. The last time she had done this, she had received her first kiss mere minutes later. Now, her eyes shone with the last of her tears and the beginnings of deep seated gratitude. "Thank you," she replied. "It seems so small in comparison to what you've done thus far, but... thank you, so much." Her hand remained in place as she said nothing further; now that she had that last vision in her head, it was hard to shake, the blond haired man being easily replaced Nil'thon's image now. How would his straight minded way of thinking process her just leaning in and pressing her lips to his? How would he taste, for that matter? Would he kiss her back?

Before her body could command her to further explore that impulse, she cleared her throat and looked away, withdrawing back to a safe distance. Again, not the best time to have such thoughts! "I... I should, um..." she stammered, straightening from their embrace.

In a blind search for a subject change, she blurted, "Are you set on course? Can you... show me the rest of the ship?"
