You don't have the necessary 100 posts for that option to be active.

Why NOT learn the dynamics of a community before jumping in and asking inane questions that have been done to death and beyond? Besides, there's already another av question on page 1. Why create another?

With a little observation it is not that hard to work out how many post counts give you whatever, at least it wasn't when I first started posting.
Curiously everyone who had less than 30 posts was a virgin, everyone below 100 didn't have an avatar, although some over 100 didn't either, it seemed reasonable to assume that that was by choice.
So even if you never read the FAQs the answers are posted all over the board if you just look a little bit.

Yep, that's exactly what I did too. The only one that stumped me a bit was the custom title because I saw people with over 1,000 posts who still had 'Lit Guru' as the title. However, when I passed 500 and couldn't change it, I just assumed it was 1,000 or would show up eventually.

Only two to go, although there is some lag time and other stuff that goes on before you can post your av.

Go through those exact steps, and you'll find the option there, just like everyone else does.
