How walkable is your neighborhood?

57 percent, though im not sure i would call the T&A Mart 2 "groceries" yes they have them, but i dont think you'd want to do your weeks shopping there.

Oh, until it loaded, I thought it meant as in safeness. I live in a rural area. There is no walkability here.

I think it's kinda BS, actually, at least looking at my own neighborhood.

It got a 17, and it's the most amazing place I've ever lived at, in terms of walkability among others.

My old neighbourhood, in a city is 32% they reckon. It's car-dependant. I used to walk to a lot of the places they figured were out of range.

My current neighbourhood is 0% walkable. Odd that, the nearest shop is 4km away :D

65

I thought it would be better, as everything on their list except the movie theater is under .6 miles, including a great library.

63%

Funny. I pickewd this complex because everything I needed was within just a few minutes walking time. Restaurants, shopping, clothing, bars, movie theater, work . . . ;)
.

15% - no surprise there. This area is almost completely car dependent.

I think that's exactly the issue with my neighborhood.

Not at all. There's a bloody blizzard out there.

Normally, pretty damn.

According to that thingy, 6%.

Which is total humbug. It doesn't spot 95% of the local facilities, including the grocery store at spitting distance, the pizza joint in the very same house, the drive-thru McD sctross the road, my local bar, and the city centre and the mall (with all the things the map says is ten miles away, like drugstore, movies, library...) and the IKEA at half a mile walking distance in different directions.

The only thing it spots nearby is a Thai reasturant.

Which doesn't exist.

That's one of the things I notice when I go to the States. It seems to me everything requires a car.

I just tried my home neighborhood in Germany.

It lists the help organization for former drug addicts as a drug store.

Additionally, a bakery is not the same as a grocery store.

It doesn't recognize the actual grocery or drug store.

It may be neat, but internationally, it seems this thing is pretty useless.

65%

They admit that their system isn't great for the UK but the list of facilities and distances are very flawed. The nearest "park" is a caravan park, ignoring the seaside gardens and six municipal parks.

Using their system but with accurate facilities data my town would probably score in the high 80s to low 90s and if it didn't I'd be out there doing something about it - for example I'm organising a pensioners' pub crawl to show that our town is safe after dark.

It is - for pensioners. The only people who are at risk are 16-25-year-old males - at risk from assaulting each other when drunk.

43 out of 100 — Car-Dependent

Not quite 100% right. There were a ton of things on there within walking distance. A car isn't really needed. Though I do need one to get to work and all of my other activities, one isn't needed to live here.

63%. But, the dollar theater was replaced by a mega church five years ago.

Mine is 73.
That surprises me. I am within walking distance to everything. I walk everywhere.

Would have thought it was closer to 90.

MIne is 46 "car dependent". Only for the soft and flabby! Anything within 5 miles is walking distance for me, unless I"m in a rush . . . which I usually am. :(

66% here, though at least one or two of the closest facilities on the list closed up many years ago. I consider my neighborhood entirely walkable but for lack of a hardware store. Walking there is optional anyway, as my son works there and can bring home anything that I need. Bank, grocery, library, liquor store, movie theater, bars, restaurants—all are within a ten minute walk or so.
