"How to Woo a Mermaid"

I was watching a movie and the morose lead character was browsing in a bookstore. He picked up a book entitled something like "How to Mend a Broken 'heart", but my brain briefly saw it as "How to Woo a Mermaid". I immediately wondered what the Lit story would be that went with that title.

trying not to remember the plot of the ancient Tom Hanks/Darryl Hannah film.

Wondering how it can have a happy ending with hilarity (and tadpoles?) ensuing.

I have a story that could have been titled "How to Fuck a Mermaid" (but it's just titled "The Mermaid"). It's about a sailor who rescues a mermaid, and she is eternally grateful and willing to please him in every way she can, but all he can think about is how to fuck her when she doesn't have a pussy.

Read it, liked it...but "To woo" is somehow different, more delicate than simply "To fuck..."
