Weird Harold said:You start with a story idea or premise.
Then you start typing until you've exhausted the idea or premise.
Then you go back and delete the one third that is total crap and edit what is left into a story.
Tom Collins said:I can only tell you what I do. I think up a couple of characters that I find interesting and then put them into one of my many elaborate fantasies. Then, when I feel like I know where they will be going, in the short term at least, I just start telling myself the story in Word. Putting in the details that I would want in there if I was reading it.
I hope that helps, but it probably doesn't...lol

I'm really new to writing too, so don't know how much help this will be ... I started my first story based on a strong fantasy I had. I used myself as the main character and just wrote my thoughts, feelings and reactions into the fantasy as I went along. I must admit I still do base the main character on me - I find it easier to write that way but everyone has there own way of working their stories out.femininity said:I'm new and i have read often, but i have never attempted to write a story. I just wanted to say Hi again and Welcome!
I am too new a writer myself to be able to offer much in the way of advice.
All I know is just write what you feel. And find a good editor to help you clean it up once you are done. Listen to them. They are trying to help.
There are a number of excellant writers here as well as some published ones who are of course pretty good or they would not be published. Ask and they allmost all will do their very best to help.
Good luck and Welcome again to the AH.

actually, two stories here are VERY close to what really happened...

It was a real leap of faith to put the story on to Literotica - I was terrified! But people were really kind, very helpful and motivated me to write more (and hopefully improve a bit).
Good luck with your writing, I look forward to reading your first story.

cloudy said:Don't overanalyze your own writing.
Just write. Tell the story.
Then get someone you trust to look it over for you. Fix the parts they suggest. Repeat as necessary.
I think if you worry about it TOO much, it takes all the fun out of it, and it'll show in the story.
Don't worry about it - just write it.

impressive said:Oh, absolutely.
Excuse me, I must go be ... creative ... now.![]()

Fuck i have nothing that needs editing. I guess i could ask Nirvana anyway![]()
How do you get to know the good writers? just by reading the stories?
