How to start a series?

My series "My Little Ventrue" was turned into a 'series' as I was writing it. It wasn't something I did, it just sort of happened. But "Medusa: Fate's Game" is up to chapter 13 and is still not being considered a series by the website.

How does one get the stories into a 'series' status?

Huh? What?

Are you giving each chapter the same name with the only difference being the number of the chapter?

If you alter the name of your story, it becomes a separate, stand alone story.

Well, it looks like the series code missed something...

But at least they are in the correct order. Don't worry about there not being a series heading. As long as you submit the title the same and new chapter numbers correctly it will be fine.

As for the other...did you intentionally misspell Venture to be Ventrue?

Just asking.

how many words in each 'chapter' ?
Don't forget tha a single Lit page is only 3700 odd.

In this case, you should probably PM Laurel and bring it to her attention.

Looks like a glitch to me, should've automatically chaptered them based on your chapter titles. Another vote for "PM Laurel or Manu".

Clan Ventrue is a vampire faction in the World of Darkness RPGs.

That actually reminds me, we need to pester Laurel to see if we can't get a feature that lets us form series from our own works. I'd love to be able to categorize my works by some means other than alphabetical and have it show up when somebody looks at my stories as a whole.

Ah, my bad. Didn't know that. Maybe because I not into the whole vampire thing or role playing games.

Give me good old FPS shoot 'em up...I'm a member of the {Sn][per} Clan. :D

What I dearly want is the ability to give each chapter within a series a title.

When you submit a story, if you do not put part 1/ chapter 1 and so forth in with the title, then the stories will be considered separate and not list as a series.

That’s my observation on how the site works when creating a series.

I always thought that was what the story description on the submission page was for. Then again, I’ve seen some authors put it as a header above the actual story text🌹Kant

I've considered using the description box for the chapter title, but I thought it might confuse readers.

I do put the chapter title in the text, but I'd really like to have it show up on the lists. I think of the chapters by their titles, not their numbers in the series. I would imagine at least some readers do as well.

I think you can do it like this:

SERIESNAME Ch. 01: The Pantsless Menace
SERIESNAME Ch. 02: Send In The Clones

etc etc.

Subject to the usual length limitations.

Yes, that's how I do it. The space limitation is a bit of a nuisance, it's only about 35 characters or so. Someone did mention not so long ago that Laurel can increase the field length if you ask. Seems a bit messy - why not just stretch the field as part of an upgrade?

Speaking of upgrades, the sort fields seem to have fallen over - date order works, the others don't.

The length limitations is the problem. It's not a big deal, but something I'd really like to see change in any upgrade.
