I'm of the same opinion. I rarely ever have punished, for the most part for lack of a just reason to do so. If I want to beat her ass I just beat her ass; there's no need to create a situation to justify it.

I would consider punishing with something that gets her wet as part of a long stretch of stimulation intended to keep her in that state whilst denying her any relief. Of course, that denies me certain things as well, so it would never be the first technique to come to mind.
