Well, after 2 long-term relationships back-to-back, I found myself in a long gap and decided to fill it by joining the electronic age, although I had sworn never to do so in the past. While this post slightly relates to ‘Dildo or Vibrators,’ ‘Best Vibe for My Girl,’ and one other, those posts have been awhile and I’m hoping mine is slightly different enough to warrant its own thread. If not, I’ll rely on the kind moderators/participants to set me straight.

Anyways, continuing the story, I was uncertain if I wanted to remain in the vibrator domain, so I purchased the cheapest one a la Amazon, the friend of all amazons, only to discover that most jelly rubber vibrators contain phthalates which have a slight effect on male genitalia, can mimic/effect estrogen and might contain toxins. Although, allegedly, if used for under an hour each day, the detrimental effects are nill. With that in mind, I’m thinking if I ever pick up a partner I might purchase another one with silicone and a Japanese motor, which I’ve discovered are better yet still affordable. So, my question for the board is on how to select a vibrator:
1) What type of vibrator do you own (its material, motor, etc.)
2) Where did you purchase it from
3) It uses – (swirl, etc.)
4) Did you research it & consider safety?
And, if possible, could u include a link to it (so I can add that to my digital data file)

1) What type of vibrator do you own (its material, motor, etc.)
I have several. My favorite is the Hitachi Magic Wand (with the two, blue, vinyl attachments), though, because it's a great multitasker. It's not particularly sexy or quiet, but it's sturdily built, the attachments can be sanitized (we pop them in the top rack of the dishwasher), it's a great value and can do lots of wonderful things for both me and my husband.
2) Where did you purchase it from
From a store called Goodman's online, but I don't think they offer the best deal overall anymore.
3) It uses – (swirl, etc.)
With the attachments, it can be used for clitoral, vaginal, g-spot, nipple, anal, prostate, cock, general genital stimulation and it's actually a pretty good muscle/body massager w/o the attachments, too. We both like it for masturbation, during vaginal and anal sex, to add zip to handjobs, prostate stimulation on him, and more. It doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles, but it does a lot of things really well.
4) Did you research it & consider safety?
I researched it thoroughly. Apart from all of the glowing reviews, I think the best selling points are that it's been used by generations of women for decades, withstands decades of heavy use for many, and has given many women who have never orgasmed and have tried everything else their first orgasms. Oh, and it comes with a 1-year(?) warranty, too, so if you do get a lemon, all you have to do is contact the company and they'll tell you how to get it fixed/replaced for free (just make sure you save your original receipt/invoice for the warranty period).

Safety with it is common sense. I don't know if the vinyl attachments are phthalate-free, but we've not had any problems with them over the years (and, IIRC, they didn't smell bad out of the package or anything) in spite of heavy use and LOTS of washing and sanitizing. I feel they're very safe and love the fact that they can be sanitized AND used with all types of lube (we use silicone lube mostly, which could very well be a problem with a silicone attachment).

And, if possible, could u include a link to it (so I can add that to my digital data file)
Google 'hitachi magic wand with attachments' (or similar) and you'll find all sorts of links. If you're buying, compare the total price, as some stores pump up the shipping charges to make extra money. I paid under $60 for the wand, two attachments and shipping around 5 years ago, and you shouldn't have a problem getting it for less or around that price now.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. I initially stayed away from the magic wand and the pocket rocket as I wanted something more phallic looking, even if I didn't use it for full insertion. So, I'll definitely add that to possibles to purchase for the future -
