I have a story ready to go in six parts. Please help me understand how I submit it as a series.
Thank you.
Thank you.

This is a manual series:Two options:
If you are OK with the format “My Story Ch. 01” “My Story Ch. 02” and so on, then just submit six stories and Lit will sort it out for you. Probably posting one a day for six days.
Or you can create a manual series and associate each chapter with that as you go. But manual series can take a week or more to get approved (and you’ll need to get the first chapter published before it goes live).

@posingstrap1 as you can see, the main advantage is that you can call the chapters what you like.
You're the best--thank you!Hi,
If you go to your person icon on the top right. A menu appears and there will be an option for series. Click it.
On the top there will be a box that says create series.
Click that.
The system does it automatically, provided you do your chapter titles like this:I have a story ready to go in six parts. Please help me understand how I submit it as a series.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve had a manual series approved with just the first work published. To do a Series manually, you must have at least two chapters published. It's easiest to let the site do it automatically.
Yes, I think you are right @EmilyMillerI’m pretty sure that I’ve had a manual series approved with just the first work published.

Yeah. But I’ve always written at least chapter one before the series got approvedYou can create a series before you even add any stories. I just did it for The Dome.
That does make sense.Yeah. But I’ve always written at least chapter one before the series got approved

The second option never worked for me, Laurel's machine tried to assign chapter numbersThe system does it automatically, provided you do your chapter titles like this:
Story Title
Story Title Ch.02
Story Title Ch.03
Ch.01 is optional for the first one. The coding picks up on the identical text in the title, as soon as you publish the second chapter, then sorts alpha-numerically.
This also works:
Story Title - Annie
Story Title - Beth
Story Title - Charlie

Check this out, it's a combination of Numbered chapters and side stories that fit in between the numbered chapters, We're a Wonderful Wife. Once you get your auto series up and running it's something you can do manuallyI have a story ready to go in six parts. Please help me understand how I submit it as a series.
Thank you.
How can it be a Series with only one chapter, though? There's nothing to join It up to yet.I’m pretty sure that I’ve had a manual series approved with just the first work published.

That's odd. I've got several Series where I do that - mind you, they've all been manually constructed, but with no chapter numbers. The second option never worked for me, Laurel's machine tried to assign chapter numbers
A series PAGEHow can it be a Series with only one chapter, though? There's nothing to join It up to yet.
Ya think ?I guess that's a technicality.
I use series for things other than what they are intended for (as well as exactly what they are intended for). E.g. all my 750 word stories are in a series. You could always set up the overall Series Title before publishing chapter two. I personally wouldn't bother, not when the site does it for you. I've been caught out by compilation mistakes where the coding has fallen over, so I err on the side of simplicity these days. The software ain't always clever.
I do it in parallel, mostly as there is such a lag in getting the series page approved.Having said that, for unalike titled stories, the Series function is really useful for clustering content together. I've got two Series running where I do that, but I always get the separate elements published first.
I have one automatically built series, the other six I created manually. Enchantress I wanted the stories numbered but also with a title like Enchantress 7 - The Royal Family and every time Laurel's machine would try to change it to a chapter name like Enchantress CH 07. I had to put a message in Notes to Admin to leave the title alone and Laurel did... six out of eight times. That's odd. I've got several Series where I do that - mind you, they've all been manually constructed, but with no chapter numbers.
