Hey there.
I have a question for anyone who has experience publishing erotica online and/or in print (preferably for pay)

My friend and I are considering getting into the publishing biz with our erotica stories, and I was wondering if you could help guide us in the right direction.

We've been looking here
for sites that will publish, as well as considering going the self-publishing route via amazon kindle or something, and honestly we're more undecided about what to do than before we started, so...

If you've ever gone through the process/published or know someone who has used a legitimate publishing site/business, please respond to this thread or PM me.

Thanks.

From what I've been able to determine from a cursory look at it, Kindle E-books through Amazon.com offers and alternative.

Self publishing costs money and then you have to figure out how to distribute. I don't think the "mainstream" outlets like Barns and Noble will mess with you. I suppose you could find a way to market "ink print" books you've self published online via your own or somebody's website.

At one time, there used to be hard print erotic book publishers that would essentially pay by the word, but once you sold your manuscript, you got no further payment or royalties.

There used to be books about publishing various kinds of books available at the library or book stores. I had some way back in the early 90's when I dabbled with the notion of doing erotic novels after having some "letters" published in Forum and Variations. That was back before the e-book revolution.

Check out the "Authors Hangout" part of the bulletin board and ask your question. I had several discussions with people that do indeed make $$$ at publishing erotica and romance books as well as other types. I've yet to have the ambition and/or balls to follow through.

Good luck.

You may want to visit your local book store or library and check out this:

If purchasing, these books also come with a subscription (1 year I believe) to http://www.writersmarket.com/ , which may be worth a visit for some tips and advice.

I have had some success (not erotica) with some smaller publishers found with Writer's Market in the past.

Good luck!
