HA, you thought i meant during sex. LoL but i dont, im just here to inform most of you since you probably browse porn, you probably dont realize that you are downloading tons of potentially dangerous things!! so take the time to read this, it can honestly really help you alots.

-Adware-
adware is considered to go beyond the reasonable advertising that one might expect from freeware or shareware. Typically a separate program that is installed at the same time as a shareware or similar program, adware will usually continue to generate advertising even when the user is not running the origianlly desired program
-Spyware-
A general term for a program that surreptitiously monitors your actions. While they are sometimes sinister, like a remote control program used by a hacker, software companies have been known to use spyware to gather data about customers.
-Malware-
is malicious software that is designed by people to attack some part of a computer system.
-Viruses-
Probably the most well-known threat is computer viruses. A virus is a small program that can copy itself to other computers. This way it can spread quickly from one system to the next. Viruses range from harmless messages to erasing all of your data.

Now that we know what we are up against, we can now know what to do to handle such threats as these.

Protecting yourself from the web. A Firewall is a must, and though there are expensive ones out there. see the Sygate Personal for a free one.

What to do even if you protected yourself and cant afford to purchase the virus scanners that are very co$tly? Well there are several free ones out here, and it is only a matter choosing which ones to use. I would recomend AVG virus scanner as it is free and said to be a very highquality one at that. There is also the ever popular Panda online scanner but this tool is an online version only.

Now Virus scanners can only go so far in that they dont look for the small things like Adware and spyware. So you must use another type of program. A program that knows to look for it and how to clean it. This is where Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy. These tools are very free (Adaware has a pay version with more functionality) and are considered the top of the line when it comes to cleaning your system of those pesky little things that virus scanners cannot. Always remember to run Spybot Search and Destroy's Immunize tool after updating the program because there might be somthing new that it can prevent from being installed.

How to keep most of these problems from reoccuring can be a daunting task because a firewall only goes so far. Its like a vampire, they cant come in unless you invite them in. So once you've allowed the mallicious program into your computer the firewall is no good and you have to leave it up to the scanners to try and find a problems before they go from bad to worse. Now this is where a nice little program called SpywareBlaster comes in. This program prevents most of these programs (over 3000 to be more exact) from ever being installed. This program is NOT a scanner or a cleaner. Merely a means of keeping the machine from having the mallicious programs installed on it.

And now the Big gun if all else fails. This tool is a VERY VERY powerfull tool and is not to be used by those that have little knowlege of the information that it extracts. This tool is HiJackThis, always make sure to unzip and run this program from its own permanent directory (IE. C:\HJT\) this tool creates backups and so if you keep it in a secure area the backups wont be lost in the fray. If you have to use this tool (only after exhausting the tools listed above) DO NOT FIX ANYTHING. Save the log, there is a button do so. and Post the Log here, i will personally go through it and make sure that your machine is clean, and if not, how and what to do to clean it up. Also remember, with this program you must post the whole log and not just part of it because you are affraid you might release sensative information about your computer. Dont worry about it because it doesnt, and is not made for that purpose.

As with this program and all others listed, always keep them up to date and scan at a regular interval so that you can ensure that your machine is always kepts at tip top shape.

thank you for you time, and hopefully this will help someone.

Before you Run Adaware and Spybot:

Download CWShredder from here
& run it. Select the fix button & it will fix everything related to CoolWebSearch that is stored in it's database. Close ALL windows, including Iinternet Explorer, before running CWShredder. Reboot.

To help prevent this from happening again, install the patches for the vulnerabilities that this hijacker exploits by going here for your critical updates.

Download & instal Adaware from here
& update it before scanning.
In settings under 'scanning,' have it set to
'scan within archives,'
'scan active processes,'
'scan registry,'
'deepscan registry'
'scan my IE Favourites for banned URL's,'
'scan my host's file.'
In 'tweaks' under 'scanning engine' set it to 'unload recognised processes during scanning.'
Also in 'tweaks' under 'cleaning engine' set it to 'Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion' & 'let Windows remove files in use at next reboot.'
Select 'activate in-depth scan' before starting scan.
When the scan is finished select 'next.'
Remove what it finds by placing a check in the box to the left of the object. Reboot

Download & instal Spybot S&D from here.
Update it before scanning.
After the scan is complete, have spybot fix everything marked RED.
On the page that first opens when you start Spybot there is an option to immunise, you should do this. In the immunise section there is also a link to download Spywareblaster. This program will prevent the install of bad activex controls that it has knowledge of. Download that & you can keep it updated by selecting the same link that you use to download it.

Only two more shameless plugs left ;)

Spywareblaster, and Spywareguard, both made by JavaCool Software, and both will save you from repeat headaches, what do i mean. these tools dont actually scan anything, they are tools built to activly monitor your computer and alert you to changes common of spyware/adware and prevent it from happening. It will stop the install and running of these little malicious programs.

Well i hope all of this helps someone somehow!

The amazing thing about spybot is the first time you run it you'll have at least a hundred spyware sneaks. Great software!

That was the best not so technical guru speaking explanation of it all I have ever read. Just great for the common internet users who do not speak computer.

Thanks!
