I once read an erotic story, and I remember liking it a lot. I can't remember what it's called! I remember the plot, but i don't remember anything specific. Where should I start?

I used to use Google a lot for my searches, back when Lit didn't have a strong search facility. The site: operator made it really easy to search on just the Literotica site. Now, however, I almost always use Lit's search:
http://search.literotica.com
Like Google, Lit's search will allow you to search on phrases by enclosing them in quotation marks. For example, "she swallowed my cum" (with the quote marks) will allow you to search on the entire phrase instead of just the individual words. You can also use the OR operator when you're not sure of a specific word: (cock OR dick) AND (gun OR rifle).
A couple of advantages of Lit's search over Google:
- Ability to search in one or more categories. Click on the Advanced Search link, hold down the Ctrl key, and click the categories you want to search on. This can pare down your search a lot. The only caveat is that perhaps you remember the story as being mostly a lesbian story and so you pick that category, but maybe the author filed it under Novels and Novellas because the story was so long, or maybe she filed it under Incest because the sex involved two female cousins.
- Ability to search across pages of the same story, which Google cannot do. So if you know the story is about a couple who go sailing, and later on in the story they take a plane, Google will not find the story if sailing is only on the first page of the story and plane is only on the third page. Lit's search will find it.
When I do use Google to find a story for someone, if I can't find it using Lit's search, I generally use site:literotica.com, because that will allow the forums to be searched and not just the story section. Perhaps the user forgot he read the story as a message post in one of the discussion forums, or in the sexual role play board.
One last thing, SweatyOldAMan; you say you remember the plot, but you don't remember anything specific. Unfortunately, unless you can remember specific words or phrases that might be in the story, you will have a hard time finding it. You may be able to take a guess at certain words. For example, if you know the story involves twin sisters who go to college, using the words twin and sister would probably help, but you may need to include multiple options for college if you don't know the exact word used in the story, like (college OR university OR school).
Hope that helps.
Thx, Bailadora. I know my original post is seriously out of date, as it was written before Lit's new search engine was integrated, and I would update it, but unfortunately it's a "sticky" that I can't edit (don't have access to). Maybe I'll contact the forum moderator to see if I can send an update as a replacement.Excellent information! Since your original post in the FAQs is generally the one referenced when questions like this arise, perhaps you'd consider updating it? Just a thought.
