How To Not Look Desperate

So this is just a question posed for general thoughts...

Just how many times (and just how often) can a guy bump his own thread (and I don't mean responding to someone else's responses) before he looks desperate?

Hourly?
Daily?
Weekly?
Never?

Sure seems like some guys could use a little guidance in this area... :)

Are we talking about ampics? I'd say any bump by the author makes him/her look desperate.

The question's phrasing sounds like a personals ad.

I'd say one of two things would make it look not desperate:

1) A week, but without saying anything like "What, don't like me?!?". That just oozes desperate, with a twist of asshole. ;)

2) If it gets pushed back to like page 3. Maybe just a little note like "Waking this up for later viewers!" Even better is when they add in a little more info that might perk some interest.

Whichever comes first, I'd say. The guys that freak out over not hearing 30 minutes after posting seem not only desperate, but nearing the verge of scary.

Just my 2 cents, though.

awww mephisto... I liked your other avatar better...

Yes, I did mean personals, though it works equally well on the ampics thread... LOL

it depends on the category

for am pics my personal is no sooner than 3 day preferably a week.. but i set my display for 10 days.. i think the default is like 3.. so i would say every 4 days

if its GB or HT for a question you want an answer to, 48 hours..
for a personal ad... that depends.. if your checking everyday and trying to get a conversation started.. once a day making a checking in post, and stating how long you will be on is fine, if your lookig for email, pms, etc.... 4 days

If people (and by people, I mean men) would put as much effort into writing their personal ads as they did into bumping them, they might get responses other than their own.

I've noticed that the men and women who put the most effort into their threads tend to get the most views and responses, but it seems that any user appearing to be female will get attention no matter what, even if she (he?) can barely read and write. Horny men expecting an all-you-can-fuck/cyber/cam buffet are a dime a dozen on the Personals Board, and since the numbers aren't in their favor, they have to work harder to get noticed. It sucks, but it's forum dynamics.

I dunno, the geek in me likes this one too. Is that a Harley Quinn reference?

That it is. :)
I've got a thing for Joker... *Shrugs*

Effort = Intelligence to me.

And maybe I'm just being a bitch, but spelling and grammar are a wonderful turn on as well. After all, its a literary board. Literary ADULT board, yes... But as adults, you'd figure the greater percentage would have some good writing skills, or at least be able to form coherent sentences.
