In the Lit inbox I see they tell me my inbox is nearly full, and I see where to create new folders to use, but no clue how to move said messages into the folders I create. If anyone can easily explain, thank you in advance.

sharon, click the checkbox at the right end to select 1 or more messages, then scroll to the very bottom and click on the drop down box labeled selected messages: and choose the desired action.

also, don't neglect your sent items: you may find moving those helpful too.

p.s.: i personally delete PMs that aren't important. much tidier inbox.

I don't believe creating folders will offer more space. A certain amount of space is allocated depending on how many posts you have made. When I reached 1000 posts I had more storage. The folders, as far as I am aware, are just a method of partitioning the allocated space.

If you scroll to the bottom of your messages page you will notice

Download all Private Messages as:
XML | CSV | Text

CSV will open into Excel
Text will open into notepad but you could open it in Word

Of course a reminder that if you download Private Messages they may well become not so Private, depending on who has access to the computer, legitimately or indeed hacked.

I think he's right, only x number of messages allowed, no matter the folders created. Stupid system for sure. I've never even seen an inbox where you couldn't just keep all messages. I'm on sites with messages in the site inbox going back yrs, no limit.

Do those other sites have the membership Lit does?

Storing those messages for 1.5 Million users takes a lot of server space, which someone has to pay for -- You?

I actually don't believe any site would have limitless pm storage. That would mean they would out strip google or microsoft and they still have limits.

Now we have to remember Lit was around way before tumblr, flickr, Facebook etc etc - I think I recall when number of currently active users was well over 5,000 - currently as I write it is
Currently Active Users: 485 (214 members and 271 guests)

Munky was the first to troll. Query won the war. Putting that much effort into trolling just means you're pathetic in real life.

Do you really need that much validation?

yeah, nightl's right, i forgot since honestly i keep very, very few PMs. they're generally ephemeral. i've got 70 total messages, inbox and sent and i've been here quite a while.

by default vbulletin does a crappy job by using a database for things it shouldn't.
i've been a vbulletin user on various sites for a decade+. lit's by far the largest such site though. what kinds of things are you talking about? and if you wanna know more, you can always PM manu re: specifics of lit's implementation of vbulletin.
