How to make your own flogger

Here are some really good links:

I made the shoelace flogger and it works really well (at least in my novice opinion). It took about five minutes to make, too. I also made a nylon rope flogger (didn't sting as much as I would have liked, but oh well), but I modified it because I didn't have all the necessary materials. Basically, I just un-braided a nylon rope and then re-braided the separated tendrils. Electrician's tape for both the handles, because I'm poor. The top one is the nylon rope flogger and the bottom one is the shoelace flogger.

Unless you are really crafty and experienced with leather work, I'd bite the bullet and buy a good one. That reminds me, I need to condition my two soon. Pecard leather dressing is good stuff.

The material and width of tails Depends on what kind of feel you are going for on the recieving end.

I've used nylon rope, leather lacing (the kind on rolls, not shoe or boot laces), suede straps, deer skin, even belts to make floggers. I tend to use dowels or pre-made table legs (you can find them at lumber yards/home improvement warehouses, etc).

A very simple flogger to do can be be made using a sheet of suitable leather (thicker = less flexible, more thud) forthe "feel" you want.

1 - cut a rectangle out of the leather, make it roughly 2" longer than you want the falls to be (if you want 24" tails, cut your piece to 26") [OR make it long enough so the uncut portion incorporates the entire length of your handle] and wide enough to wrap around your flogger handle several times.
2 - lay the leather rectangle out and measure and mark the leather for the width and #of tails you want. Wider tails = more thud, narrower tails = more sting.
3 - cut the tails out, remember to leave the 2" (or entire handle length) uncut at the top of the leather.
4 - wrap the leather around the base of the handle.
5 - secure the leather to the handle with upholstery nails. If you are using thick, stiff leather, you might have to use an awl to punch your holes through the leather before using the upholstery nails.

Quick and easy flogger, viola!

There are other ways to do it but hey... that's what Google is for!

Step 1. Take nine pieces of razor wire, each two feet in length.
Step 2. Attach to end of eight inches of broom handle with super glue and string.
Step 3. Allow to dry for at least ten minutes.
Step 4. Enjoy.

I'd say just get a peace of dowel or mop handle that will work for a handle. Get a leather woven belt or some suede boot laces. After that its trial and error. Could just be that I'd get more appreciation out of doing it that way than following instructions, I like figuring things out.
