how to leave messages for members and where to find messages left for me

On member profile pages there is a text box where you can apparently leave messages for that member. But how does the recipient know that a message has been sent and where would those messages appear if someone left a message for me?

If we are talking about the same thing, when you joined Lit, you had to give an email address. A message sent here goes to that account. How the owner takes it from there is up to them.

Or there is an icon near the top of the page that looks like a little envelope. If you have a red notification number there, that indicates you have a PM (private message).

Rumor (based on many threads in the Technical Support forum) is that the "contact this person" form linked from the profile page on the story/author side of the site doesn't function, and they (you) will never get the email.

On the other hand, the "Start a conversation" feature on the profile page on the Forum side of the site is working fine, and the indicator on the envelope icon will let you know.

It works.. I've gotten several (hundred) "Feedback" email messages from litsters who didn't want to leave public comments
